A Counter Lamp: The Kitchen Accessory That Makes All The Difference

Today my Sunday favorites with Cindy and Annie include a new kitchen counter lamp (that feels like the accessory that pulls it all together). Along with a special French Cookbook, some decorating tweaks in our living room and a great movie to rewatch on Netflix.

Pretty Kitchen Counter Lamp

I have wanted to have a kitchen counter lamp to turn on at dusk. And then to keep on after the dinner dishes are washed, the counters cleaned and the overhead lights are off. This gives warmth at night time.

I was thrilled that Hunt & Bloom gifted this premium Jamie Young lamp to us. I love the scalloped raffia shade and blown glass base.

Hunt & Bloom has so many pretty home goods and thoughtful gifts like custom note pads.

Let’s Eat Paris! The Essential Guide To The World’s Most Famous Food City

Our friend, Eric gave this book to his wife, Cathi as a gift. It was recommended to him by the chef that gave them cooking lessons in Paris.

“Chockful of infographics, recipes, photographs and illustrations, biographies, anecdotes, and quirky takes on unexpected trends, present and historical, Let’s Eat Paris! is the ultimate food lover’s guide to the ultimate food lover’s city. Read a timeline of the brasserie. An ode to the frites of Paris. Profiles of iconic restaurants: Tour d’Argent, Fouquets, L’ami Louis, La Coupole, Le Procope. Behold the sacred croissant and the twelve best places to find one.”

Sounds fun, right?

Décor Inspiration From Our Vintage Persian Rug

It’s always nice to tweak things in your décor once in a while. In this case, I wanted to add some red from the hand tied wool rug to change things a little.

I added the rust red and blue pillow from Etsy. Which inspired a little coffee table restyling.

What To Wear On The Airplane (especially with an over-night flight)

We are in Paris right now. For the flight over I wore the most comfortable cardigan and pants and by Spanx. The material is lighter weight (so not too hot) and super soft. The outfit feels dressier than loungewear but cozy.

I wore the cardigan again for an early morning trip to the Porte de Vanves flea market.

Spanx ribbed cardiganslim straight elastic waist pants (AirEssentials comes in regular and petite) • crew neck tee shirt • sneakersAway backpack (lightweight) with padded laptop compartment

I’ll tell you about the new things we are doing in Paris soon! But for now you can refer to this roundup of Paris posts.

What To Watch On Television: The Green Book on Netflix

Yes, I know this is an old movie from 2018, but I just watched it again on Netflix and it’s so good.

“When a refined pianist hires a street-smart driver to navigate a concert tour of the segregated South, a friendship forms amid the backdrop of racism.”

  1. The Green Book is a fabulous movie!!
    Enjoy Paris. Hope weather cooperates.

  2. Hello Mary Ann, I’ve enjoyed your blog for years, it’s such a treat to see what you have to share and seeing your beautiful family grow! I had an interesting idea this morning. I have never been to Paris and would love an insiders guidance (such as yours) on my first visit. Would you and Howard ever consider taking a small group on a tour? You could share your favorite restaurants, shops and markets amongst other things with the group. Thanks for considering! Enjoy your time there now!🇫🇷
