Good morning! Hopefully, things are going well for you. All good here! I’m excited to tell you about some really remarkable finds in décor, on TV, some deals on cute dresses, and more. Cindy and Annie also are telling us about their fun finds at the end of the post. I love Sundays!
1. Friends
Last Thursday, I had the best time with my blogging pals! They had a little birthday celebration for me. Can you believe I met each of these creative women on the internet and now we are friends in real life? If this is like internet dating, I think it’s great!.
Elizabeth from The Vintage Contessa, Cindy Hattersley, and Kim from Northern California Style and I met in Marin, Ca. at the new Restoration Hardware. We had lunch in the rooftop restaurant and it was delicious.
I brought masks as party favors!
2. Southern Living Idea House 2020
This home tour is beautiful. I am going to re-subscribe to the magazine. Lauren Liess was the lead designer and I love her organic look that feels vintage, homey, and fresh! “The location really was my starting point. My vision came from the views outside the windows of the house,” says Lauren.
This makes me want to move to the mountains in North Carolina! I think using a lot of white with vintage items gives it a modern look.
3. Rebecca Movie Remake On Netflix
We watched Rebecca on Friday night and I loved the scenes of Monte Carlo, England and the clothing!
3. Decorated Pumpkins
Kim from Northern California Style brought these cute embellished pumpkins as party favors to our lunch. She made them herself (more about it here)! Mine got slightly damaged in the car so I foraged for natural elements on my walk with Chief, pulled out my glue gun, and added a few things (but Kim did most of it).
And then I was hooked! I wanted to embellish another pumpkin that I had on hand. It’s fun!!! There are some affiliate links at no additional cost to you. I appreciate your support.
I got the pumpkin-shaped pods here and the preserved moss here. The succulents came from an overgrown bush outside. The berries are from the flower stand. Get creative. You could use whatever you have like Kim did with dried flowers. These would be fun party favors on your Thanksgiving table.
4. Great Cookbook For A Pandemic
Our Contessa, Elizabeth gave me this book: Modern Comfort Food by Ina Garten and it’s great!
“I often say that you can be miserable before eating a cookie and you can be miserable after eating a cookie, but you can never be miserable while you’re eating a cookie.”~Ina Garten
Ha…and can you see that little bit of remaining birthday cookie?
5. Dress Deals and More
My colorful, comfortable tunic dress from Anthropologie is on sale with an extra 40% off. I bought it thinking I could wear it next summer but we had a warm day. I purchased the XS regular (I am only 5’1″).
You won’t believe where Kim got her cute dress…Target! And it comes in black and white, too. I want to order it before it sells out.
One more newsworthy sale if you love Serena and Lily as I do.
Use code LOVEHOME to get 20% off almost everything until October 29. Since their site-wide sales are unusual, this is a good time to buy. Their bed linens are sort of expensive but wonderful. I especially like the cotton and linen quilts as I have. They get washed often since we let Chief sleep on our bed and they still look great.

Let’s go see what my friends have in store for us!
Sound so innovative!! It’s so mesmerizing to read this

Happy Belated Birthday!
What a lovely celebration of girlfriends for your special day. What was on the menu?
You look terrific in your cute dress and so does Kim. Really adorable dresses.
They had delicious salads…I had a shaved vegetable salad with grilled sliced chicken on top.
Mary Ann, Happy Birthday, it looks like a wonderful celebration with great friends. I wish I could have been there! The pumpkins are so cute, what a great idea for Fall decorating.
I am off to check out your outfit because I want one, although I think it may be too short on me.
Have a wondeful week.
Happy belated birthday! Thank you so much for sharing all these fun ideas… Including Rebecca! Can’t wait to watch it.
Hi Mary Ann,
Happy belated birthday. What a fun birthday you had. That’s great. I love the new Ina book and now that we’re finally seeing some signs of autumn I’m ready to try several recipes.
Have a wonderful week. I hope the birthday celebrations continue. 😊
xo,
Karen
You’ve tickled off a list of favorites I can really run with today! I love Lauren Liess’ designs in the SL house. What a beautiful background for persona treasures! I’m looking forward to settling in this afternoon to watch Rebecca (I’m confidant my husband has more than one football game to enjoy!) and I’m also thinking that with the rising positivity rate in the Chicago area (it’s really awful here) I may have to get Ina Gsrtens new book — time in the kitchen with Ina is always good therapy when I can’t get out!
Have a great week!
I thought I would watch it while Howard watched football, too…but he agreed to watch it (didn’t love it as much as I did). The positivity rates are down in SF…but I am afraid to brag about it as they could go back up if we aren’t still careful.
THAT IS THE SECOND recommendation for me on REBECCA!WIll try and squeeze that in TODAY!
Loved seeing everyone and I am hOOKED on that restaurant ………those restrooms!!!!
Glad you like the book!I got one too so if you make something PLEASE SHOUT TO ME SO I CAN COPY!
We never have enough TIME!I could have hung out under those OLIVE TREES ALL DAY LONG!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONTH!
