Here are the best luxury bed sheets for your budget, in my opinion, after sleeping on all of these. You spend a good portion of your life in bed so you might as well treat yourself right!
They are priced from lowest to highest and are high quality and luxurious. This post has been updated for 2024. These are sets including fitted sheets (with deep pockets), flat sheets and two pillow cases.
Here are some textile considerations:
- White sheets are compared since these go with anything and feel hotel-like.
- Cotton sheets (percale or sateen) for softness or 100% linen for coolness. Linen is not for everyone however. It is your personal preference. Some people don’t like the rougher, rumpled texture, but it can wick away sweat making it cooler to sleep on.
- At least 300+ thread count and in queen size for comparison purposes.
- Polyester or microfiber sheets are not included in this review as I haven’t found any I like. Also, flannel sheets are not reviewed.

Target
For the price, I like this 400 Thread Count Solid Performance Sheet Set – Threshold. I’ve purchased this as a second set for our guest room. $50/set. These are probably the best affordable sheets.
Description: Cut from 100% cotton fabric with a thread count of 400 and a sateen finish, this bedding set creates a perfectly luxurious sleeping space. Wrinkle-, pill- and shrink-resistant construction keeps these sheets looking their best, while top and bottom labels make placement a breeze.
Quince
These Classic Organic Percale Piped Sheet Set from Quince are on rotation on our bed. Reasonably priced at $100.

Quince’s European Linen Sheets ($170) get rave reviews, are moisture-wicking and may be our next set when we need them. They have free shipping.
Pottery Barn
Pottery Barn has come a long way compared to when I bought them for the kid’s beds years ago. We have these 400 thread Organic Cotton Percale sheets currently in the guest room. $199/set
They are pretty with the blue embroidery.
Serena and Lily
The Beach Club Sheet set is luxurious. $298/set But on sale right now for $218. We have these on rotation our bed. There are lots of embroidery colors. We tumble dry these for fewer wrinkles.
Description: “Bright white, a touch of color, and crisp cotton percale exude summer house chic with elegant simplicity. To get that luxurious look we were after, we traveled to Portugal to work with a mill we love and chose eco-friendly cotton that’s light and breathable, designed to keep you comfortably cool while you sleep. “
Frette
These Basketweave Cotton Sateen Weave Sheets are the most incredible sheets I’ve ever had. If money was no object (like if I was a billionaire), I would want these sateen sheets on every bed. $1900/set. I was gifted a set for collaborating in a local SF Instagram event. 5-star luxury hotel quality.
The Frette queen set is in our guest room downstairs. Ha! And they get rotated with the Target sheets.
Description: “Elegantly embroidered with an enduring basket weave pattern, our Basket Weave Embroidered sheet set brings a modern take on a classic design to any bedroom. The silky cotton sateen fibers offer a sumptuous foundation for your perfect night’s sleep.” Made in Italy.
Those are luxury sheets with different price points.

I don’t splurge on many things but Ralph Lauren’s sateen sheets make my heart sing and are worth every penny.

The White Company is English but is available here, has the best sheets at varying price points – check them out. The business was originally started because the owner couldn’t find just plain white cotton sheets. It has now expanded to selling clothing, household items and the cutest baby stuff and has stores throughout UK. They send out a catalogue.

I bought some sheets at TJMax that I thought looked like my Frette sheets. They looked and felt exactly the same. My Frette sheets were a special at a Frette outlet in N.J. so not the ones you are featuring. So happy I bought two sets.
Love this post. I think I might have a sheet fettish.

I need to go to that Frette outlet. I’m going to a wedding in Summit this summer…is it near there?

I have found Peacock Alley sheets which is a higher end linen and bedding company at Tuesday Morning from time to time. I also found some nice sheets at Sam’s Club last year but can’t remember the name of them but they wash very well and are so soft!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Yes! I like Peacock Alley too!

Hi Mary Ann
We have gone to linen sheets in our household. We love them. I still have the Coyuchi sheets but we have had great luck with the Pottery Barn sheets. I still get hot flashes at night so I find the linen works well. This was a great post. Sheets certainly have gotten expensive, haven’t they? FYI we have tried the Target linen sheets, they are worth a try as well.

Fretting over whether or not I can afford the Frette’s? You make them sound absolutely heavenly and worth every penny. No, Jim would kill me. I love this post and pinning it for future reference. I do love white sheets with a little detail. So many wonderful and pretty options! xo

Those basketweave sheets are gorgeous but I guess they should be for that $$$$. I just purchased the Pottery Barn percale sheets a couple months ago. No complaints!

Great post! What do you think of Boll and Branch? Where would you fit them with the others you discussed?

Hi Mary Ann,
This is very informative! I have always dreamed about one day sleeping on Frette sheets. Doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon! Weren’t you lucky to receive a set!
I recently on impulse threw into my cart at Costco a set of sheets for our CalKing, they are very soft, labeled with tags on the sides and top/bottom ( easier to make the bed!) and extra deep for our thick mattress. 400 thread count, with a satin trim at the hem, and I think they were less than $75! Pretty good deal! I always use white or very light colors on my bed. I sleep better!

Isn’t it funny how impulse buys can really work out, Heidi?!

Thank you for these great suggestions for beautiful sheets. I have the PB organic percale sheets and absolutely love them, but I would like to try some of these you shared. Also, I love the rug in your primary bedroom and have looked at your Shop Our Home section, but I can’t find it. Is it included there?
Mary Ann Pickett says
It was from a vintage shop on etsy, Linda. https://classiccasualhome.com/affordable-vintage-turkish-rugs-for-a-modern-look/

I am constantly on the search for sheets and so this post is perfect. My biggest pet peeve is when the heading of the sheet comes out of the dryer a wrinkled mess, so much so that I have to iron it and even then it seems the creases are permanently set and never come completely out. I also iron my pillow cases, it just feels so nice!
Wish I was a billionaire so I could splurge on those Frette sheets!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Ahh…someone said they found Frette at Tuesday Morning, Gail.
Wisconsin Shopper says
Two Wisconsin based mail order companies with wonderful, quality, luxury sheets are Lands’ End and The Company Store. They both offer Supima cotton sheets with high thread counts. Periodically they offer tremendous sales (sometimes as much as 50% off) which allow the average person to treat themselves to bedding that makes you not want to get up in the morning. Their websites are worth checking out!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Oh yes…I used to love The Company Store and Land’s End…will check them out again.

Thank you for this post. Currently on the hunt for sheets for our executive rental’s principal bedroom. Might be worth a cross border run to Target or PB. Natural fibres are the only way to go, bamboo sheets are getting better and better as well. I have also had good luck at Winner’s and HomeSense ( TJMaxx to you) and once found a set of Frette pillow cases for 30.00! Sadly, no sheets:( Those pillow cases are amazingly soft yet sturdy and have held up over the years…do you iron your pillow cases? I am a total sloven but when it comes to my pillow cases and cotton tea towels out comes the iron!
Also I have tried some sheets at Costco and while decently priced they were like sleeping on sand paper and the threads puckered.
Mary Ann Pickett says
Occasionally I will iron the pillow cases for guests…but not that often I am afraid. That’s not good about the Costco sheets. Thanks for telling us.
Linda Ebright says
Love that ticking striped guest bed. Is it custom or can you share a source, please?
Mary Ann Pickett says
We got it years ago at WS Home. But I notice Serena and Lily has a similar one.

I love this post! I love a comfy, well made bed and have had sheets at many price points but I can’t lie, I love “old fashioned” 100% cotton sheets. I sleep best with those, no night sweats, etc. Thanks for sharing aMaryAnn, have a wonderful weekend.
Mary Ann Pickett says
I like cotton too, Elizabeth. You have a wonderful weekend, too!
