We are loving Summer here Chez Pickett with Textured White Table Decor, a cool white maxi dress, and what we are cooking/eating and reading.
It’s Five Faves time with Annie and Cindy. I’ll keep this brief so you can enjoy your Summer, too.
1. Textured White Table Decor Perfect for Summer
Here is a casual white table that feels cool in warm weather. We are enjoying it inside with the air conditioning.
I love the addition of these handmade straw orchid napkin rings.

2. White Summer Dress On Sale
I spotted this soft cotton and silk white maxi dress in the window at our local Anthropologie and now it is on sale (45% off)! I’m wearing it without the self-tie belt.

3. Classic Summer Salads
For a recent summer party, Howard made his Grandma Winnie’s Excellent Potato Salad.
My sister, Teresa served her Fresh Grilled Corn and Tomato Salad (which is basically grilled cobs of corn shaved off, chopped grape tomatoes, chopped green onions, mini mozzarella balls cut in half, and chopped avocados). Surprisingly, with all the flavors, it doesn’t need salad dressing.
Our son Tommy created his Asian BBQ Pork Ribs again.
4. Amazon Prime Day Deals
Prime Day is Amazon’s annual deal event on July 11-12 (this week on Tuesday and Wednesday) for Prime members. We love our Roomba.
You can keep up-to-date with the Prime Day deals when they are announced here.
5. What To Read This Summer — ” Hamnet” by Maggie O’Farrell
I knew nothing about this book when I started it…but it slowly becomes apparent. It was good.
“Set in Stratford, England, in the late 16th century, Hamnet imagines the emotional, domestic, and artistic repercussions after the world’s most famous (though never named) playwright and his wife lose their only son, 11-year-old Hamnet, to the bubonic plague in 1596.”
If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up” phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.
Let’s see what Annie and Cindy’s Five Faves are this week:

MA! Those napkins rings are fabulous! And thank goodness for air conditioning. Love your white dress … and corn salad is my absolute favorite. Thanks for the book rec. xo

That corn salad looks great, and even better that no dressing is needed!
I LOVED Hamnet and found it so moving! I can’t wait to read more of O’Farrell.
Love that white dress on you! White is everywhere this summer, wish there were more offerings in ivory or ecru for those of us who don’t look great in white.

Hi Mary Ann,
Everything looks so nice.. Glad your family is staying for a longer visit. You get to spend more time with your adorable Louisa!
I enjoyed Hamnet, Maggie O’Farrell is a good author. I’ve read a few of her books.
I’m sure it’s good and hot in FLA right now. I had a lovely walk on the beach this morning. It’s finally feeling like summer around here. Cool and foggy mornings, breezy sunny afternoons. The heat will be here in Sept.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Xo Heidi

Those napkin rings are adorable. Such a pretty table! Everything on that menu sounds delish. I want to sit down and enjoy a plate even though it’s only early morning here. Lol
How nice that your daughter, son in law & adorable granddaughter can stay longer. Perhaps, the pool has something to do with it. A refreshing dip often keeps the heat at bay.

It’s very gradual on my legs so I just apply after my moisturizer. It’s not like the immediate self tanners.

I’ve been following your blog for a while now (it’s so delightful!) but have never commented before. Thank you for your Sunday email & posting your packing post again from the Spain/Italy trip! I’m trying to plan a trip for June ‘24 after my son graduates & am considering a few areas in Europe. Haven’t quite figured out where we’re going but it’s so helpful to read where others have been. I do believe I need to do a bit of searching on your blog. Thanks so much!

I have a few more travel wardrobe posts coming up. Stay tuned! Isn’t it fun to travel again!?

You look adorable in that white dress, and I love your peaceful tablescape, so pretty. You are the best hostess! I have made that corn salad and you can’t go wrong. Grandma Winnie’s potato salad sounds like the one I grew up on!
