Today I’m sharing my must-have beauty products (for a gal that wants a quick routine), a quality cashmere throw that I bought for a good price, soothing California interiors, and my granddaughter’s nursery plan.
All over the place? YES! Because it’s Five Faves time with Annie and Cindy.
1. Well-Priced Luxe Cashmere Throws — Nice For The Cooler Weather
Have you heard of Quince? They are only online and carry high-quality cashmere sweaters and home goods. I recently bought a cashmere throw for $130 that’s super luxurious (comparable to some I’ve bought for clients for almost twice that).

It would make a really nice gift. There are several colors. I bought the camel color.
2. California Style – Pure Salt Interiors
I follow Pure Salt Interiors in Southern California on Instagram. Their interiors are soothing.

3. My Must-Have Current Beauty Products
My everyday make-up is a fairly quick routine. These are what I use…

- Selena Gomez’s brightening concealer (My new favorite. I had to wait weeks for it to be back in stock after trying it on in Sephora). It’s lightweight, hydrating, and has good coverage.
- Benefit small size mascara. I switch it out for a new one at the beginning of each month.
- Benefit waterproof eyebrow pencil (with parts of my eyebrows going grey, I really love this).
- Nars American Woman lip stain.
- Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer… it’s back and even improved!
- Kerastase strengthening shampoo.
- A small loose powder that you press on…works wonders. I keep it in my purse. It has an ingenious lid that flips up to act as a handle.
- Sephora’s well-priced pressed powder. Nice coverage.
- Also back in stock that I use every day (not shown) is Dior BACKSTAGE Rosy Glow Blush.

4. Louisa’s Nursery Plan
My daughter, Alexandra, likes a modern/vintage mix. So I drew up this plan for our granddaughter using a greyscale pastoral wallpaper from Etsy, my mother’s crystal chandelier, a new swivel glider, Alexandra’s vintage globes, a black floor lamp that we had, pale pink velvet curtains, and a crib and shelving from Crate and Barrel by Leanne Ford.

Well, it took the wind out of my sails a bit when Alexandra didn’t like the removable wallpaper (my favorite part of the vintage theme). So instead of buying the wallpaper for them, we purchased the curtains and tall arched shelves.

We styled the shelves recently via Facetime with Louisa and Alexandra’s silver baby gifts and vintage books (that were mine growing up). The crystal bowl with the hair bows was my great-grandmother’s (a California pioneer). So is that Louisa’s great-great-great grandmother?
5. My Favorite Pumpkin
And speaking of Louisa…I miss her but we Facetime almost every day thanks to her mom. I’m hoping she will recognize my face or voice when we see each other again in December.

Louisa’s other grandma knitted the beautiful blankets. And you should see all the sweet little sweaters that she has done for her! A couple of takeaways from the photos: don’t wake Louisa up from a nap to take a photo and will she grow into those cheeks?
Those are my must-have beauty products, quality well-priced cashmere throws, Pure Salt Interiors, and more.

I loved your post that included graphic tees. I love the one in this post too – could I ask where you found it? And I just went and followed your new Petite Instagram site after reading these comments!
Thanks, Lori,

Your granddaughter is adorable!
I’m excited about your new IG account for petite fashion. I’m 5’2, so that works for me!
Louisa is adorable and the nursery plans you drew up were beautiful. I love the wallpaper…sorry that Alexandra didn’t like it. My decorating taste is so different from my daughter’s but I did help with the grandkids nurseries a little. I remember I was showing my daughter some burl wood frames for my grandson’s nursery but she wasn’t a fan. At least she liked the prints I bought to go in the frames.
I love burlwood, too, Linda!
Mary Ann! Louisa is adorable, you must be counting the days until December! I love how you and Alexandra styled the arch shelf with so many meaningful things.
So exciting about your new fashion account! I need to hear more abut that!
xx
Louisa is just precious and I’m so glad we have FaceTime so you can see her almost every day. The nursery is wonderful, but I did love the wallpaper, thought it was so different and just made the room. I’ve been following your new Instagram page and am enjoying seeing you looking fabulous and so happy! Thank you for the beauty products recommendations, I need that concealer! And thank you for always brightening my day with your wonderful posts, you’re still my #1 favorite blog I follow.
You are the best, Gail!!
Mary Ann,
I’ve been looking for a more affordable concealer. I confess, with everything from soup to nuts costing double what it used it, I can no longer afford to splurge on some items.
I love Louisa’s nursery. I had the same fears as you with my first granddaughter. Born to my oldest son and his wife and they live in Austin. Jamie, my DIL was great about keeping us connected through facetime and like you, I was worried on our first visit since her birth that she would cry when she saw me! She reached for me when she saw me, and it melted my heart. We’re remarkably close and she now texts me at age 12. 🙂
xo,
Karen B.
I love hearing this, Karen. I may try to get out to LA before December for a couple of days.
Oh MaryAnn, your granddaughter is adorable!!!!! Her sweet little face…I am sure she will recognize your smile, your face and voice!
I loved the nursery, sad to hear that she did not like the wallpaper! It is gorgeous!
I am following your new account although I am not petite. Looking forward to your posts.
Thanks for sharing your make-up favorites.
Have a wonderful day!
You are so wonderful, Elizabeth!
How wonderful that Louisa has your and Alexandra’s treasures. It does not get any better than that. Louisa is so beautiful, love her cheeks. The six week announcement in too cute, so clever. The nursery is very pretty. You don’t win them all do you?
Good luck joining your new gym. It’s much better to wake up sore than being stiff. You will recover from being sore, stiff not so much.
Thanks for the wonderful comment, Kaatherine!
The nursery and Louisa are precious! I know you will look forward to seeing Louisa at Xmas!
Love your grandchild’s nursery, Meredyth!
I have bought a cashmere hoodie and beanie from Quince and can vouch for the quality and the speedy delivery. In thinking about your fav beauty products, I wonder if you have found a new hairdresser? Your SF person did such a good job with your color and cut it always looked like. I hate having to switch hairdressers! I used to swear by the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer but then something happened so it’s nice to know it may be better now. I recently bought NARS instead and I’m happy with that. The nursery is beautiful and can work also for Louisa as she matures (I liked the wallpaper, too). Lovely to incorporate some heirloom pieces.
I do like my new hairdresser, Wren, but it was hard to leave the old one!
Thank you for the Instagram fashion for petites! I am 5’2” and several years (!) over 50. Love your blog also. Have purchased and love many of your fashion recommendations. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas and lovely family.
Thanks, Judy. I’m several years over 50, too!
Hi Mary Ann
I am always on the hunt for a good concealer. I feel like I have tried them all. I will check that one out. I love that wallpaper but I understand Allie has her own vision. That little Louisa is gorgeous! I love her cheeks!
yes! She has to like it as they are spending a lot of time there now.
I love your nursery plan for your adorable Louisa! Sorry it didn’t work out. Thinking one of your many followers may use it. As usual, unique and creative.
I wish someone would, Carolina!
