It’s a little cooler here in California and time for classic cozy rooms! While transitioning to Fall and Winter, I like to layer with throws and real and battery-operated candles. Annie from Most Lovely Things has gathered some of my favorite bloggers to tell us how they create a cozy home, too. Their links are at the end of this post.

Layer With Throw Blankets To Achieve Classic Cozy Rooms
A cashmere throw makes a luxurious addition to your home…it’s also a nice gift! This light gray throw is from Williams Sonoma Home…they have several colors.

I recently purchased this hand-knitted throw from Pottery Barn. It’s super cozy!

I like that it is the color of a pair of favorite blue jeans but this also comes in lots of colors.
Incorporate Real Candles For Classic Cozy Rooms
I like to use regular unscented candles like the one below along with

seasonal scented candles like the one on the end table. This is Harvest Spice by Pottery Barn.

Flameless Candles on Timers
I have several flameless candles with rechargeable batteries in them around the house. I like that they are on timers like in our bedroom on my bedside chest. A nice effect when the sunsets!

Here you can see that I changed the linen throw pillows in our bedroom for cozier black velvet.
And that’s how I create classic cozy rooms with blankets and candles.

Mary Ann! I love your fall touches! The pillows and your cozy new throw look so beautiful and cozy. It still amazes me how much changing out your pillows can do to give a whole new look to your room! I love the black velvet pillows and the lumbar pillow too! Those Capiz candle holders work beautifully with the flameless candles. So smart to use the ones with a timer! I can just see you walking in from a walk with Chief dusk and have your candles glowing when you walk in the door! Can’t wait to celebrate you next week!!!
Mary Ann,
This is my favorite time of year. Pretty ideas for a cozy room. I love the chunky knit throw.

Mary Ann, I love the navy. It looks so cozy in your living room. I need to follow your lead and get some flameless candles on timers. I have that William Sonoma home throw in Charcoal. If I can find them I should get them out and use them in the dining room this year! That Pottery Barn throw is really great looking too. Your home is always so welcoming no matter the season.
They are really pleasing when they turn around dusk.
Mary Ann … your City home is so dreamy. You’ll have a great view of the Blue Angels this weekend cozied up with those gorgeous pillows and luxe throw. I’ve got the throw in my cart right now! xo
Yes…they have already started practicing…so loud. Chief freaks out.
Mary Ann I love your blog and style! Do you mind if I ask where your living room blinds are from? Looks like they are light-filtering vs. room darkening – are you happy with that choice? Thank you!
Thanks, Peggy. They were from Blinds.com. We like them.
As always, every detail of your home is gorgeous. No matter what time of year, you make your home feel the beauty of the season. Just beautiful, Mary Ann!
Thanks, Gail…you are so kind!!
Mary Ann fun post. I love the blue pillows in your main room. A lovely mix. The idea to have a little candle on timers in other rooms is such a cozy idea. I need to try that. I do love the candles on timers so much! This was a lot of fun with you all! Everyone has unique ideas! xo Kim
