Easy Bathroom Makeovers with New Vanities And More
Updating your bathroom doesn’t always require a full renovation. Sometimes, bathroom makeovers with new vanities can completely transform the space.
If your bathroom or powder room feels stuck in the past, a new stocked vanity could be the key to modernizing and revitalizing the decor. We have two examples in my sister, Teresa’s new condo in San Diego where we wanted the best look without over-investing.
And there is more like a great linen outfit with super comfy sandals from Quince. It’s Sunday Faves time with Annie and Cindy!
Why New Bathroom Vanities?
1. Fresh Style and Design
Older bathrooms often feature vanities with outdated styles or finishes that no longer suit modern tastes. Many times older vanities’ counter heights are lower around 30″ to 32″ high. New vanities are generally taller like 34″ to 36″ including the backsplash.
My sister’s two bathrooms before:

To save money, we decided to keep the showers and tub since they aren’t really offensive. But Teresa may consider refurbishing them down the road.
2. Improved Functionality
Modern bathroom vanities are designed with improved functionality in mind. They often come with features like built-in storage solutions, integrated sinks, and innovative countertop materials that are easier to clean and maintain.

3. Enhanced Storage Solutions
Storage is a common issue in older bathrooms, where vanities may lack adequate space for toiletries, towels, and other essentials. Newer vanities are available in various sizes and configurations, offering more efficient storage options such as drawers, cabinets, and open shelves.

A new bath mat from Target is soft and machine washable in the guest bathroom. In Teresa’s neutral primary bathroom, we used existing accessories like the oval mirror.
4. Upgraded Fixtures and New Hardware
A simple change in fixtures and hardware can significantly impact the overall look of your bathroom. New vanities often come with clean lines, updated faucets, handles, and knobs that contribute to a cohesive and contemporary aesthetic.
In my sister’s case, we changed the lighting (keeping them in the same places to save on electrical costs) and mirrors, too. Both vanities came with undermount sinks.

For art, we used a meaningful San Diego piece given to Teresa by her good friend (who’s grandfather was the artist) and added a pretty seaside scene for a vertical composition.

5. Increased Property Value
Updated bathrooms are attractive to potential buyers and can positively influence the resale value of your property.
Bathroom Makeovers with New Vanities

Transforming a dated bathroom into a more modern interior design doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By replacing your old vanity with a new option (Wayfair has lots of budget-friendly ones in different dimensions), you can achieve a significant makeover with minimal disruption.
Note: Wayfair’s WAYDAY is April 26 to 28 for significant savings!

Outfit Of The Week: Quince Linen And Comfortable Sandals
I love this striped crisp linen shirt and cool pull-on pants from Quince. The shirt is a little long on me (I’m 5’1″) so I tied it at the waist.

Linen Shirt • Polarized sunglasses • Sunhat (old–no longer available but check out Target similar) • linen pants • Sandals…Cindy H. and I were wondering about the Quince leather sandals and I am happy to report that they are super comfortable!
What To Cook: Howard’s Veal Marsala

While we were staying with my sister in San Diego this week, Howard made a delicious Veal Marsala using this recipe.

Let’s see what my friends have discovered this week:

The bathroom remodels are great, what a difference! Your outfit looks great, and the veal sounds delicious.
Wow, the bathrooms look wonderful!! they make such great vanities now good job
Mary Ann! I love your Quince linen! You look amazing! And great job with Teresa’s bathroom renovations! Both look great!
Hi Mary Ann,
Both of the bathroom transformation turned out so well. I’ve learned to discover from you anything you
touch turns out so good. It’s the Mary Ann touch. You are such a great sister, I admire your relationship.
Most of the family lives out of the country.
MA! Wow … what amazing transformations of your sister’s bathrooms. Both vanities are gorgeous … I adore the green color. The white too. Both bath look so upscale and elegant. Did she replace the floors too? I’m also loving your Quince look and may have popped the shirt and pants into my cart. Howard’s cheffing abilities never cease to amaze me. xo
Love the before and afters on the bathrooms but I have a question as to why you didn’t align the pictures evenly above the toilet:
Good question…we thought about that but since the toilet is off center we decided to center it in the middle of the end of the vanity and the shower…which you see from the hallway.
Hi Mary Ann,
This post came at a perfect time, we are going to do a little update of our guest bathroom. We can’t do a new bathroom cabinet but my husband is changing all the doors and draw fronts to inset which will make it look updated. I’m changing the countertop, sink, hardware and sconces but not sure about the mirror yet. Then fresh paint and accessories. I love what your sister did in her two bathroom.
I also love the linen pieces from Quince. They are always so cool in the summer heat!
And the recipe for Veal Marsala has my mouth watering. It’s a favorite of mine but I usually use chicken so I can’t wait to try Howard’s recipe.
Hugs!
Wow…I’d love to see the before and after photos!
Hi Mary Ann,
Wow gorgeous bathroom remodel l love the pulls especially. We badly need to do ours since the kids left the house but l think l will wait for more certain economic times. But l so appreciate all the information.Thank you for a lovely post. Happy weekend.
Great job on your sister’s bathroom updates. I love both of them! May have to make a Target run tomorrow to pick up one of the bathroom rugs. I think the colors in that rug would work well with our existing primary bathroom. Have a good week!
I really like that the rug looks traditional but with pretty colors and its washable.
Love the bathroom updates and the linen outfit. How is the coverage on the white pants?
I feel like you can see the pockets but not your underwear…pretty good but still lightweight.
Love your bathroom suggestions. As usual you look adorable in the Quince outfit. Wonder if you find the shirt & pants true to size? I have ordered a few Quince clothing items that seem erratic in fit. Thank goodness for easy returns:)
I would just say that the shirt is long for a small…I could wear it over leggings too.
Great bathroom transformations! Love the green! I love those linen pants from Quince too. I am sharing on Tuesday. Howard’s veal marsala looks delicious.
