Good morning! I’m in San Diego for my mom’s 95th birthday. She looks good in pink–so that’s our theme. The weather is gorgeous here today so we are having drinks and appetizers outside first by my sister’s fire pit.
My client, Lori also lives here in San Diego…just a few miles from my sister’s house. Lori could tell we were close by my photos on CCH of the hills in the back yard. I’m glad she contacted me. We were planning this classic blue, white and walnut bathroom last year before Pantone announced Classic Blue the 2020 Color of the Year!
Classic Blue, White, and Walnut Bathroom
Here is the after but also see where we started…
Lori wanted the downstairs powder bath to feel more coastal in keeping with their indoor/outdoor lifestyle and already updated kitchen. The existing walnut colored flooring needed to co-exist with the new vanity color…and navy blue looks pretty with it.
The handsome vanity set was ordered from Wayfair.
We used oversized white subway tile on the shower walls and blue penny tile on the shower pan and niche.
The walnut shelving ties in with the flooring.
The walls were covered in white horizontal planking that feels appropriate with other parts of the house. You can see me in mirrors…impossible not to be in the photo 🙂
One more before photo…
The warmer metal finishes of oil rubbed bronze, brass and polished nickel are mixed.
That’s Lori’s new Classic Blue, White, and Walnut Bathroom! I’m glad she’s happy.
We also updated Lori’s family room fireplace which I will show in an upcoming post. But NEXT, on Thursday, is another Project Design: Self Care Tips For A Happier You!

PS. Happy 95th, Mom!
