Easily Style Kitchen Counters With What You Have And More

Hello! We have been enjoying the most amazing Spring-like weather, it’s about to change, but how is it where you are? Today for my Five Faves with Annie and Cindy, I’m sharing a few spring refresh ideas like solid linen pillows that I love, how to easily style kitchen counters, vintage rug runner sources, and more.

1. Spring Flowers and Fern Stems

While we anticipate Spring…tulips do the trick. I pulled out last year’s faux fern branch (similar) after the holiday decor went away.

2. Libeco Linen Throw Pillows

These solid 100% Belgian linen pillow covers are great staples to mix in with others.

I have them and we used them here to make this primary bedroom window seat more restful.

3. Vintage Runners in the Kitchen

This is an updated post as vintage rug runners in the kitchen are still going strong. I wanted to make sure the links were still current as I am shopping for a rug for a client right now! In fact, you may want to snap this one up before I do!

4. Easily Style Kitchen Counters Like We Did

I showed Melinda’s new kitchen a while ago and a few days ago, we virtually (she’s in Atlanta) “styled it up” using things she already had. The idea was to make it feel fresh, warmer but not cluttered.

First, I asked Melinda to put all her accessories on the dining room table.

We started with the island since it is prominent. Followed by wooden cutting boards to add warmth and a little condiment tray for oils and salt. Then cookbooks and art and done!

And that’s how we did it together!

5. Artist Adriana Blackard

Last Thursday, it was such a nice surprise to receive a gift and note in the mail from Melinda! My own framed small piece of art by Adriana Blackard, the artist who did the vertical paintings in Melinda’s kitchen.

Modern art can be interpreted individually. When I look at my new piece (on the bottom right) I am reminded of how in the summer as a child I would hike with my brothers and sisters, in the San Bernardino mountains.

We climbed over sparkly granite boulders, through pine trees and moss to a deep creek/pond called Deep Freeze. There we would laugh and splash around…happy memories.

Thank you, Melinda and Adriana!

If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up” phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.

  1. Mary Ann,
I love the runner link. I am currently looking for a rug for the bathroom and I really like the look of a Persian run with an antique appearance. I always love the styling you do for your clients. It’s amazing what a few well-placed items can do for a room.

Mary Ann, I love seeing you work your magic using items that people have already rather than marking a trip to Home Goods! You are so brilliant at this!

I love your new piece of art and how you interpret it and what it reminds you of when you see it. It looks wonderful on your gallery wall!

And those Libeco pillows from Pottery Barn. I had no idea they had linen pillows using Libeco linen!
