One of my favorite spaces in our new house is the screened in balcony off of our primary bedroom. The previous owners had securely installed a coastal porch swing bed to beams upstairs.
“Ladies’ Loft”
It feels like a you are in a jungle with the trees and birds chirping. And yet you can hear the Atlantic ocean waves. It’s a nice space to drift away and daydream or have the girls over for cocktails!

I call it my “Ladies Loft” as Howard has his own “man cave porch” with a big television to watch sports downstairs.
Coastal Porch Swing Bed
The coastal porch swing bed needed refreshing and thats where PatioLane came to the rescue with a new Sunbrella mattress cover and round bolsters. Annie loved the custom covers that they made for her banquette.

If you want the best custom covers, check out American-made PatioLane. Their online Cushion Builder was easy to use and they shipped Sunbrella fabric samples in advance.

Disclosure: Patiolane gifted the cover and bolsters to me but I was going to buy them anyway. I used Sunbrella Maker’s Collection in Blend Linen Upholstery Fabric.
Patio Lane is offering you 10% off your entire order with the coupon code: CLASSICCASUAL until September 30, 2022.
Swing Bed Pillows
The chambray lumbar pillow is from Pottery Barn and the striped square pillows are from Target (no longer available online–check in store). The outdoor rug is from Homegoods (similar).
The Palecek basket light is from Dear Keaton. We also replaced the brown ceiling fan with a less obtrusive white one and repainted the bed (which I think is from here).

Ladies’ Loft Outdoor Folding Chairs
I bought these Luna Beach Chairs to take to the beach but I like them so much…I’m keeping them here so that they are visible everyday!

The round bamboo table was a Homegoods find (similar on sale) as was the white tray and stand (similar).
Mademoiselle On Watch
This little French girl has been in our last five homes. I remember finding the cement bust in a shop in Paris when we lived there and carrying her all the way back to our apartment.

She’s sweet but HEAVY!

That’s my Ladies’ Loft with a coastal porch swing bed!
Next week we are talking about outdoor entertaining. I will have a recipes for you along with the little cocktail party for girlfriends before dinner that I had here.

Would you ever consider installing a swing bed? I’m grateful that the previous owners did!
Sorry to be off topic, but please ask your friend Joy about her shoes. I love the braided straps and the LOW heel.
Mary Ann,
This space is the perfect place to enjoy friends and family and to relax. It’s like being in a tropical tree house. I love it!

Hi Mary Ann,
Such a fun space. I love a swinging bed or chair, so relaxing to just hang out and day dream! Really nice transformation, so bright and fresh.
I bet you spend a lot of time here, I’m happy for you!

Mary Ann,
I love your ladies loft! This is the perfect place to read, relax and rest. Or just to listen to the birds, the ocean and to feel the summer breeze.
Enjoy!
Your porch is beautiful, and the swing bed just makes it more special. It’s a lovely space I’m sure you’ll enjoy with friends and family (and a nice nap occasionally too).
Your ladies loft is heavenly and what. a wonderful transformation! A good book, ice cold beverage and some soothing music and I could spend the whole day right there! Your new house is quickly becoming a beautiful home!
It would be fun to hang out with you here, Gail!
Wonderful, fun space, Mary Ann! A friend has a porch swing in her sun room and has her morning coffee there daily! We have a screened porch with two 12′ glass sliders (keep it closed and clean, but readily openable), but it has a “shed roof” that slants, so I’ve never considered a porch swing. After seeing yours, I will take a more serious look into feasibility!
I think you might like one!
Beautiful space Mary Ann so peaceful !! Enjoy 🙂
Thanks, Francesca!
Such a lovely transformation. It truly looks heavenly.
Thank you. We love it.
Lovely transformation! I’m rather envious of your screened in porch. We do not have one and our pool is not screened in. With all the rain we have had lately here in Florida, the mosquitos are a problem!
Uh oh…we want to build a pool that is not screened it. but we will keep the screened in porches.
Swing beds take up way too much space and are very awkward for anything but- reclining! I got my fill of them in FL where every porch has one. You really can’t place yourself in a comfortable position for conversation when entertaining. I can understand one for your personal bedroom porch. A glider makes sense so you can support yourself without your legs poking out there and you can gently move. Over the bed swing for good!
When my son was here and we were sitting on the swing bed with our feet up he said “This feels like heaven here!”
Swing bench instead?
Why not? 🙂
I love your ladies loft!! I have seriously considered adding a swing to one of our outdoor areas! I think Summer would love it!
I’m sure Summer would love it, Cindy!
Love the swinging porch bed! The porch is amazingly attractive.
You are so nice, Judie!
Wonderful before and after! I am about 4 hours “down the road” from you on I-10 and would be happy to bring some wine. (We are CA, Bay Area, transplants as well). Regarding PatioLane, I have used them for years in multiple homes, and have been so impressed by their customer service, attention to detail and their huge fabric inventory. Really a terrific company. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Love the swinging porch bed – really a terrific look.
How fast can you get here? Yes, Patio Lane is great! The cushions in the “Loft” look better than what’s is on my new patio furniture downstairs.
