Workout Clothes For Women Over 60, Spring Decluttering And More

Today, we are talking about workout clothes for Women over 60 in terms of what works well for comfort and coverage. These are clothes that I feel comfortable in going to the gym or the grocery store.

Also, I wanted to tell you about the well-priced workout clothes my daughter and daughter-in-law love, Spring de-cluttering ideas, my lighter-weight Spring/Fall coats that are a bargain now, a good book and television show.

Workout Clothes For Women Over 60

At my age, I don’t like to show a lot of skin (or my rear end) while taking walks or going to yoga or pilates classes.

The good news is that almost all of these favorite workout clothes are on sale at Athleta with 30% off! I find that long or capri leggings are great for working out (and I like Athleta’s quality).

And in the hot months of summer here, the Salutation Stash High Rise 7″ Short is nice for walks on the beach. It’s also convenient to have a side cell phone pocket.

Well-Priced Workout Clothes From Quince

Here is what my daughter-in-law, Mona said about the Quince Ultra Form Highrise Legging and Scoop Neck Bra set that I gave her: “This Quince set is the best dupe I’ve found for the Lululemon Align. It’s incredibly comfortable yet durable, making it perfect for Pilates or a casual walk. The fit is flattering and makes you look put together for your workout!”

And my daughter Alexandra said, “Yes! I love the fit and color (I got her the navy, too), they feel really similar to the high waisted Lululemon but a way better price. I want to get another set in another color already!” I am going to try them now, too.

Items To Declutter For Spring

After reading this post: 50 Items to Declutter For Spring, I will admit that I don’t agree with all of them. Like donating Christmas decor you didn’t use last season–I like to rotate mine. And it would be impossible to get Howard to give up his extra hammers. Just like I won’t give up the board games and playing cards we “may” use in a year.

But here are ten I DO recommend. With my comments in italics.

  1. Clothes with stains or holes– you may be able to convert them into cleaning rags! The homeless shelter I worked for in SF donated damaged clothing to be recycled into rugs and other things, since we wanted our customers to feel good about their appearance.
  2. Shoes that hurt your feet Life is too short.
  3. Old magazines and newspapers Yes!
  4. Drink ware- purge your cups and mugs, you probably have way too many. Don’t you hate it when you open the cupboard and things fall out?
  5. Mismatched socks– if you can’t find the match after 2 weeks then throw them out. This probably makes sense.
  6. Unused picture frames– if you aren’t using it now you probably won’t ever. This is when I think how happy I will make a customer at Salvation Army, etc.
  7. Freezer food– they do expire too! Check expiration dates and be honest if you will actually use them ever. Howard, this one is for you.
  8. Old eye glasses & sunglasses- especially if they are scratched. I did this today!
  9. Pajamas– if you haven’t worn them in 2 months then donate them, most people have way more PJs than they actually wear. Clean out the drawer of worn out ones and reward yourself with a fresh pair! Like these that I get compliments on and they are on sale.
  10. Tea or coffee beans you will never drink I have some teas that I don’t like the taste so why am I keeping them?

Lighter Coats On Major Sale

The Theory wool cashmere coat that I bought on sale at 50% off is marked down further! Final sale. I love mine. It comes in black and charcoal, too.

Here I am (above in the wool/cashmere coat) with friends, Mercedes and Dorothy in NYC last week. We bought our baseball caps at & Other Stories. Mercedes’ cap is warmer in suede.

My Athleta Stellar trench that I wore in France last Fall (and will again this Fall) is on sale!

Another SALE:

These are 40% off now if you have a Gap credit card (dress here). So I just ordered the blouse, too.

Clothes For The Grandkids

My friend with six little granddaughters told be about H&M for kids (plus they targeted me on Instagram). Look what I just ordered for Leo and Louisa…

What To Read/Listen To “The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies” by Alison Goodman

This book, was recommended by a reader, Joan: “A novel I just finished: “The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies”, Alison Goodman — a really FUN, engrossing read, that manages to also highlight real highs / lows of women’s lives in 19th century society.”

Thanks, Joan. It was great and I can’t wait for the sequel.

What To Watch: “The Leopard” Television Series On Netflix

“Amid the unification of 1860s Italy, a Sicilian prince grapples with the collision between his family’s ancient privilege and revolutionary change.” The set scenes and Sicilian backdrop are amazingly elaborate for a television series. It’s dubbed in English.

It makes me want to go back to Sicily: A Week In Sicily: An Unforgettable Vacation with 29 Friends.

Good Morning: I posted this question yesterday; however, I don’t see it this morning (maybe didn’t hit Post lol)

Anyway, I love the Stellar trench coat and went online to order it – I’m 5′, 130 pounds – it’s not offered in Petite sizes. Based on your coat, do you think a Regular size, i.e. S or M would work on my small frame? Thanks I’d like to get it ordered before it’s sold out.

    1. Oh I did answer you that you will probably need to shorten the sleeves unless you just push them up. I had mine shortened even with the petite size.

  2. Hi Cindy,
Could you share the paint colors in your coffee station picture above? Love all those colors and we are going to paint this summer.

    Thanks!
    Gina

Hello: I love the Stellar trench coat and went to their website to purchase one in black; however, they’re not offering it in Petite sizes. At 5′, 130 pounds I was wondering if you thought a Regular would work on a petite frame…Thx!

    1. I think mine was a petite, Tetia, but I still had to have the sleeves shortened. So you will definitely need to do that on a regular unless you push them up.

  4. As always, thank you for your wonderful tips and suggestions. I had not heard of The Leopard. We will have to watch as we are going to Sicily later this year. (I had forgotten that you and your family went.) Love the beautiful clothes for your grands. I’ve been busy knitting baby sweaters for friends’ grand babies lately. So fun!

  5. Can you source your black crossbody bag?

  6. You always have the best TV suggestions. I am adding that to the list! I love tha Madewell shirt. I featured the black today on the blog!

    Good morning Mary Ann,

The H & M choices for your grandchildren are beautifully updated classics. Will they be saved so they can be “handed down” to cousins some day?

At your suggestion, I purchased the black Athleta trench last fall for our 60th wedding anniversary trip to France. It’s still serving me well.

    Hugs from Mercer Island,
    Diney

Nice post. I enjoyed reading it.

  10. I’m in the Atlanta area. Our heavy pollen hasn’t started quite yet but will be here soon. We just wait till the season is over and then clean our porch once. Old eyeglass can be donated to the Lions club.

Hi Mary Ann! Love those baseball caps! Sporty, but not too sporty!
And so good to know about Quince workout clothes! I have been wanting to try now I will!
