Here are vibrant colors to wear this summer that can make you feel like a million bucks! While on vacation in Key West I wore a coral and pink bathing suit, and also a peachy pink dress. Then, at the Haven conference in Atlanta, I wore a happy red dress.
I’m at the Atlanta airport where my head is still swimming with all the new knowledge from the Haven conference that I received to make me a SUPER BLOGGER! Kim from Northern California Style was with me.
Social media and content creation are constantly changing and there is always room for improvement. I try, I try…
Anyway, welcome to my five faves including colorful attire, a good book, and a tasty hummus recipe.
Also, remember to head over to see what Annie and Cindy have found at the end of the post
1. What To Read: A Novel About Key West History
This is a fun summer read with a historical slant.
My friend, Cathi recommended it and I finished it in two days. The Woman At The Light.
2. Vibrant Colored Summersalt Bathing Suit
I like this colorful brand, Summersalt. They have all sorts of styles like the one I am wearing with the J. Crew packable straw hat.
Note: as a 65-year-old, when posing for the dreaded bathing suit shot, one knee up covers your belly…and how about a big smile!
That is an old pareo…I like to buy pareo/scarves at places like Nordstrom Rack to use as coverups.
One-piece swimsuits:
3. Summer Linen Dress
This linen flowered dress was my first purchase from Faherty. Love the quality. This is an extra-small since I am 5’1″. The sleeves were slipping off my shoulders a bit, so I had them slightly altered. If you are taller, they would probably be fine.
I will be posting Key West highlights later in the week…where to eat, drink, shop, etc.
4. Tuckernuck Royal Blue Shirtdress
Howard and I gave Mercedes this cute striped shirt dress for her 60th birthday. She got tons of compliments on it, which made me smile almost as if I was wearing it!
Here I am in Atlanta in the same shirtdress in red. Other patterns here. Madewell earrings here.
It was so fun to have dinner with my long-time blogging friend, Sherry Hart from Design Indulgence, and her super sweet friend, Rose from R. Kipper Interiors.

5. Garlic and Lemon Hummus
My friend, Tori made this delicious hummus recipe last week. Hard to pin her down for the exact recipe since she has made it so much, that she doesn’t use one. It is similar to this one except with three cloves of garlic instead of one.
She also sprinkles it with olive oil, paprika, and Za’atar (which I am buying immediately).

Mary Ann, Love all these colors on you. You always look classy and chic and about 20 years younger than you are! I’m so glad we went to the conference. It was good wasn’t it? Loved hanging out and Sherry is a doll. Sorry I missed meeting Rose too. That blue and stripe dress is darling and I have the all blue version- similar. Love these dresses from Tuckernuck. I have to try the hummus too. So glad you made it home okay! xo

Oh my goodness, this hummus looks so good! Trying it immediately. Love all your colorful dresses. And bathing suit. Summersalt looks like they have the best suits … I’m too embarrassed to get int a suit. But need a new one so I’m going to browse. You could have taught all the classes at Haven. So sad I missed but happy you had a great time! xo

HI:
Love your blog! How does the Tuckernuck dress run? Thank you
Mary Ann Pickett says
I am wearing an x-small (I’m 5’1″). Mercedes is around 5’6″ and wears a small. I think it is true to size and meant to be a little loose.
Mary Ann Pickett says
PS. Thanks, Marianne!!!
Liana says

That dress is absolutely adorable on you! I will have to check out that site, I’m not familiar with it. Love the swimsuit too! Off to look up Zaatar!
Mary Ann Pickett says
I’m ordering the seasoning too. And I’m washing the dress in cold water as I write. Tons of laundry from the vacation!
cindy says
Hi Mary Ann
I need to buy zatar seasoning as well. Why haven’t we before? I can’t wait to hear all about Key West and your conference. You look darling in the swimsuit and the dress. I love those dresses with gathered bodices…so flattering! Mercedes looks like a teenager!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Mercedes does look great!! Is it that Cuban skin?! Let’s talk this week.
