Classic Casual Over 50 French Fashion And More Good Things

This is a fun topic: classic casual over 50 French fashion! Here’s what is fresh and chic from Paris for women over 50, including jackets from Sézane, a fabulous French perfume, cheap/cool French glassware and more.

It’s Five Faves time with Annie and Cindy!

French Style With Sézane

While in Paris last week, Annie, Susan and I did a little shopping at Sézane…

Betty Sweater Jackets

It was great to meet Susan in person from femme d’un certain âge and spend some time together. She is my age and has a beautiful complexion and style.

I loved Susan’s sweater in hazelnut and bought it in “the perfect green” ( size medium). It’s really comfortable and there are lots of lovely colors.

Will Jackets

I purchased the Will jacket in indigo (size small). It’s a fun new alternative to a jeans jacket.

Love the deep pockets for carrying your cellphone.

Annie bought the Will jacket in wool in orange terracotta. She looked great in it.

Heavenly Scent From Diptyque

I tried several scents in this perfume shop in Dijon and really loved the fresh, powdery clean scent of 34 Boulevard Saint Germain Eau de Toilette. Try it at your local department store. You are worth it.

Shirt Dress From Madewell

This is a crisp shirt dress (25% off for Madewell Insiders) that would also look good open with a tee-shirt and jeans or tights and a sweater.

Simple Cheap French Glassware: Duralex Clear Small Tumblers

In both apartments that we rented, they had these cheap chic glasses that Howard used for espresso and I used for votive candles to add some ambiance to our temporary home.

I’d like them at home, too. They are stackable.

  • Set includes six 3-1/8-ounce glasses for $16.34 on Amazon
  • The original french tumbler, made by the company that invented tempered glass
  • Duralex is 2-1/2 times more resistant to breakage and chipping than normal glass
  • Dishwasher, refrigerator and microwave safe; Products maintain the original look for years

Note: I love to buy French magazines while in Paris.

Annie’s Most Lovely Things Cool French Shop

Annie and her charming husband, Brent (who I finally got to meet in Paris) found so many great vintage things at French flea markets. Their shop will open again in October and I can’t wait. If you can’t make it to Paris right away…their shop will be a quick fix. Like with these vintage paintings.

  4. Love that Will jacket—might need to get it in khaki! Even in winter in North Texas we’ve learned to layer our cottons since the temps can fluctuate so much in a single day. And I’ve already added those glasses to my Amazon cart!

  5. Mary Ann, thank you for posting. I, too, am petite, XS. Very frustrating to find jeans. Familiar with retailers you listed altho not near any one of them. Shutter to think of ordering online.
    We shall see….
    You always appear well dressed.
Thank you and I’ll continue to enjoy your posts.

Hi Mary Ann! I discovered Sezane when visiting my daughter in NYC this spring. Love everything in that store! Ended up with a navy mohair cardigan but really want to buy the Betty sweater. AND I found a Sezane in San Francisco on Fillmore in Pac Heights! Glad you enjoyed Paris.
