Here are three of the best sneakers for travel and everyday street style. Thank heavens that we are embracing the comfort of sneaker style! I remember when we lived in Paris in the early 2000’s you could spot the American tourists by their sneaker style footwear…and now everyone is wearing them including the Parisians.
I’m joining my friends Annie, Cindy, Kim and Juliet as we all share our favorite sneakers! Their links are at the end of the post.
Sneakers have become an essential part of modern fashion, offering both comfort and style. Whether you’re jetting off on a travel adventure or running daily errands, sneakers can be your go-to footwear choice.
Here are my three favorite sneakers that do not have a break-in period.
1. White Leather Sneakers For A Casual Chic Travel Look
I love the versatility of my Madewell lowtop leather sneakers as they have memory foam soles and work with many different outfits in your travel wardrobe. They are slightly off-white.
I think these are my best travel shoes as they are so versatile. They have a leather upper that is breathable and rubber outsoles.
Here I am at the airport and below walking the streets of San Francisco.
Below is last September in Mallorca. The Tuckernuck Royal dress (other colors here) is perfect for sightseeing and my sneakers were great on cobblestone streets. They look nice with midi and knee length dresses.
2. On Cloud Running Shoes in White Or Black
The On Cloud Sneakers are great for everyday street style and the best walking shoes. There are lots of colors. The On Cloud 5 slip on your feet making airport security easy (although we have TSA Pre).
I took the insoles out and washed the black ones (and let air dry) to pack in my suitcase for a trip today. They are durable, lightweight and have good traction.
I like that they are light weight for easy packing but have good stability.
3. Hoka Clifton 9 Runner Shoes
My sister, Teresa and friend, Mercedes swear by these super cushioned shoes. So I bought a pair and love the “bounce” in them. After reading the reviews, I ordered the wide but I think a regular would have fit fine (as my bunion is not that big).
If you want cushioning and arch support, you will like these.
The heel is a bit clunky (and they take up more room in the suitcase) so I mostly use them for exercising at home. But I saw that thick heeled look a lot on the streets in Paris recently…fashionable! If I take them on a trip, I would probably just wear them on the airplane.

I can’t wait to read what my stylish friends’ favorite sneakers are…

Mary Ann,
Love the Madewell sneakers! I am going to order a pair! I have heard a lot about Hooka, but have not tried them on.
Have a wonderful Easter.

I have the Cloud and wear them a lot but I also like the Taos white sneaker with arch support, they are pricey but very comfy.

I will have to try these. I am stuck on ECCO brand. They are a bit pricey but are so worth it. They seem to be the only sneakers I can wear for every day anymore. For walking/travel I still rely on New Balance.
Mary Ann Pickett says
I used to wear ECCO. They are comfortable.

What a great post and collaboration! I am enjoying the insights from all of you stylish ladies. Plus, your combined effort gives us a complete look at what’s available in the sneaker market.
My latest addition is the On Cloud running shoe in white. The more I wear them, the more I love them. They are a favorite in my family and I am the last to join the fan club.

I have those On Cloud sneakers with me in North Carolina. Thanks for your comment.

Sneak chic! I love the reminder of the old days when American tourists were derided for their bulky sneakers. Glad those days are behind us. Wish some of these sleek styles were available when I was wearing sneakers to ride BART to work. Anyway, your white sneaks looked great in Europe … and you keep them spic and span. I’m a big Hoka fan, for exercise. They are bulky. Love the look of the On Clouds. I think it’s time I brought home a pair. xo

I think you will love the On Clouds, Juliet.

Mary Ann- I love that even in Paris you can wear sneakers! I remember the days of wearing ballet flats and insisting they were comfortable. You’re tight about the On Cloud sneakers are so lightweight and super comfortable. Love those all white Madewell sneakers. Perfect for summer!

Mary Ann, I can not tell you how often your weekly post directly relate to my challenge of the moment. For the past month I’ve been buying and returning sneakers and booties like a madwoman. Medium are too narrow and W are too wide. Finding cute shoes/sneakers/sandals is not a problem but finding comfortable ones that fit me is. My feet are on the wide side of medium, with high arches, high instep, a bunion (one foot only) and my toes are on the short side. Because of the these metrics I need a round toe box sneaker, with good arch support, generous width and absolutely no stitching anywhere near my bunion area. As if that’s not challenging enough I need them to be waterproof for my trip to Ireland. I’m hoping one of your readers has the same issues and could suggest a brand/style that’s worked for them. On a happy note, the scarf in the tote bag is the scarf I was asking about in your last post 🙂 You girls are the best!

HAVE A GREAT TIME IN Ireland!!

Mary Ann, I cannot tell you how often your weekly post directly relate to my challenge of the moment. It’s like you are a mind reader. For the past month I’ve been buying and returning sneakers like a crazed woman. I would have no problem If only I didn’t have wider feet with high arches, high instep and a bunion. Finding cute sneakers is not a problem finding ones that fit is. I’ve learned I need round toe box, no stitching anywhere near the bunion area and arch support that’s in the right spot. Another thing that can make a difference in how a shoe /sandal/sneaker fits is how long one’s toes are. As if all that is not bad enough, I’m going to Ireland and need them to be waterproof. On a happy note, the scarf that’s in the tote bag is the scarf I was asking about in your previous post 😉 You girls are the best!

You are so kind, Bess. Enjoy Ireland!

Mary Ann, You look so cute in all these looks. I love that Tuckernuck dress on you! Max has OnClouds too and loves them! I think I need that dress. xo
Deanna says
Timely post. I need a pair of white sneakers and I think I’m going to try the Cloud 5 Running Shoe. Would this also look ok with a midi dress do you think? Or would the Madewells be a better option? I’m just afraid to try a platform shoe but yours look so good in all the pictures you posted.

Hi Mary Ann
Great options here! Steve loves his hokas and he also made the mistake of ordering the extra wide! They looked like boxcars on his feet! The second pair he ordered the regular width and they are great!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Yes, next time I will get the regular width.
