The Most Helpful Moving Apps
Recently, I have been really pleased with the most helpful moving apps. One is called Lugg and they help with local furniture moves. And Taskrabbit can help you with all your handyman needs (in our case unpacking, organizing and collapsing boxes). I also have a fun movie for you and candlesticks that you should buy before they are gone!
Welcome to my favorite things with Annie and Cindy!
1. Lugg App
Ever wish you had a truck to pick up that great furniture buy at an outlet or secondhand/vintage store? Well, just down load this Lugg app. I used it to hire two movers to help my daughter and son-in-law take some of our furniture. So worth it!
2. Taskrabbit
The Taskrabbit app can get you help fast! I’ve used it to find people to install window treatments and light fixtures. And the last two days, Laura and Matt were a godsend helping us unpack and collapse boxes. That’s Laura unpacking my closet for me.
We still have tons of stuff to put away, but after all the help we got from these two, it’s not so daunting.

She and Matt gave us great advice too, on things like the best sports bars for soccer to a good vet for Chief. They even hooked up our Apple TV. It feels good knowing we can call this young local couple when we need help in the future.
Tomorrow, I’m having a “tasker” hang all our mirrors and hooks for baskets and hats.
3. What to Watch: The Lost City
I went to the fancy new movie theater here in Jacksonville, FL by myself (Howard wasn’t here yet). But I had a fantastic time, reclining, sipping a cup of white wine and eating popcorn. And the movie is just so darn funny to me. Plus, my ticket costed about half of what it would be in San Francisco.
4. Cool Wooden Candlesticks
I highlighted these wooden candlesticks on the blog after a visit to Pottery Barn, and my brilliant friend, Mercedes purchased them. I would buy them, but now I can just enjoy them at her house less than a mile away! She has battery operated candles on a timer in hers, too.

5. Grilling At Home For The First Time in Years
Having a grill (actually a summer kitchen) again in our backyard is huge for us. I LOVED our San Francisco views but we had no outdoor space. Usually we were at my sister’s in San Diego when I posted about backyard parties. So, for our first dinner cooked at home, we made this (smaller quantity for just the two of us)…

If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up”phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.

Great recommendations! I love how these apps can simplify the moving process. I’ve tried a couple of them already, and they really make everything so much more manageable. Thanks for sharing these tips!
Thanks for those tips on the moving apps. I will be moving probably within the next year and will be on my own so it’s nice to know where I can resource an extra pair of hands (and a strong back)!
I’m excited to see your new home and see how you take your belongings and make them look new in different surroundings. I’ll expect a Master Class in using what you have (because that’s what I’ll have to do…).
I wish you many years of happiness and joy in your new home.
Brenda (your neighbor in South Florida)
Thank you so much for posting about those moving apps. My husband and I move every 3 years or so and I had never heard of those apps. We’re currently in a rental and thinking of buying a house so the apps will be very useful. Love those candlesticks too.
God bless you and your family in your new home.
Mary Ann That movie looks fun. I love the idea of going and enjoying popcorn and wine! Yay. So happy you got your place set up a little and had some help. I have used Lugg and they’re great. I should use Task Rabbit.. Love the candlesticks ! Hope your week is great. xo
Mary Ann! I’m so happy for you to be reunited with your clothes … and other things. Grilling outside is one of the joys of life …so glad you’re going to be enjoying it on a regular basis. And year round! Lugg is the best I’ve used them countless times for so many different kinds of moves. Most recently, getting the wine to Kyle’s wedding venue. I have a little thing that needs to be done here at the house and Task Rabbit might be just the thing … thanks for the tip. Love the candle sticks. I’m tempted to put them in my cart. Hope you have a great week getting your new home situated. xo
Hi Mary Ann,
It’s great that you’re finally settling in and getting organized. I bet that feels good after living in limbo for awhile.
Enjoy your new home and especially being with friends and walking the beaches! That must be lovely for you.
Those apps sound really helpful. Isn’t it terrific that someone thought of them?!
Enjoy your week.
Xo Heidi
Mary Ann! It must be so exciting moving into your home after having a few days of it being empty so you could really get a feel for the space!
We use those moving apps every year when my kids move from one apartment to another in the city…it makes it so easy.
I love how you went to a fancy movie theatre…just enjoying life! You are so fun!
Miss you!
xx
I have never heard of the moving apps either. What a great idea! I bet Howard is so thrilled to have a grill! That dinner looks delicious!
Great tips! Could use those apps to find help. I’ve called college hunks movers to move large furniture pieces, but they aren’t always available. And not much of a young population in Naples, so it’s particularly tough to find more able bodied movers!
Cheers to “easy living”… having a backyard, garage and storage again!! I never take it for granted, and never take the beautiful weather for granted either!
Wow, I had know idea about moving apps, what a great thing! Having never moved from our home, I can’t begin to imagine how difficult it truly is, and you’ve done it many times! Good luck and once again, congratulations on you new home. Can’t wait for the tour!
Is Chief with you?
Going to the new theater sounds great! I want to see the movie.
So many great tips! I need the moving app to help me bring things home! If I ask my husband he tells me we do not need it.
Your house already sounds lovely, and how wonderful to be getting everything set up so fast. Take care.
