Lots of green for the holidays like an elevated but still casual hunter green outfit for women over 50. Gift wrap boxes and bags that can be used year after year (along with my ribbon sources), a delicious verdant green parsley salad and more.
It’s Five Faves time with Cindy and Annie.
1. Tan And Green Gift Wrapping (Reusable)
You can have the convenience and speed of ordering your gift wrapping needs on Amazon Prime. Check out my Gift Wrap Amazon Shop here.
One thing that I am really happy about are the tan craft gift boxes that I ordered last year. Instead of throwing them in the recyclable trash after Christmas, I stored them on the top shelf of my closet. I’m using them again this year…and will next year too. So much better for the environment.
I picked up cookie cutters for $1.00 at Target to embellish packages. I am using brown paper bags, too.
2. Green Lemony Tabouli Salad
Howard served this tabouli (some spell it tabbouleh) salad the other night with grilled lamb chops. My Lebanese aunt made this for us growing up and her version always included lots more parsley (just like Howard’s) in proportion to the barley. She also had tomato, mint, cucumber and green onions in her salad.
Howard “winged” it as usual but his recipe is very similar to Cookie and Kate’s.
I had it the next day for lunch, too, with pita bread.
3. Hunter Green Outfit With Velvet Pants For An Elevated But Casual Look
These hunter green slim slacks from the Loft are a perfect fit and 50% off (around a $45 purchase). They come in black fabric too. At these affordable prices, I’m not sure how long they will last. The velvet green shade just makes them seem a little dressier for a special occasion but I would wear them with a denim or white blouse, too.
These are a Petite 6. Check their size chart for your correct size as the new hunter slacks also come in standard size and tall.
I’m wearing shades of green with an older cashmere turtleneck sweater (similar in viscose or cashmere crew neck) and comfortable calfs hair Birdies loafers. Have you gotten a pair of Birdies, yet? Nordstrom carries them, too. My accessories are simple gold bracelets (not shown) and drop earrings.

4. Stylish Square Phone Case
Recently, I bought this cute tan faux crocodile Flaunt phone case on sale. There are other patterns, too. It makes a nice gift. Might as well be stylish since you use it everyday!
5. What To Watch: World War II: From The Front Lines
This historical series is really well done. It shows the way the world war unfolded. I wish my mother and father could have seen it recapped as they lived through it.
“Through vividly enhanced archival footage and voices from all sides of the conflict, this documentary series brings WWII to life like never before.”

What a cute wrapping idea, MA. Love the box idea, pretty bows and cookie cutter adornments. Wrapping is one of my least favorite activities … and your method looks a whole lot easier and every bit as pretty. Hunter green looks great on you … and it s gorgeous winter color. Love the phone cases. Mine’s so boring … need to try one of these. xo

Love the emerald green sweater, I recently bought a cashmere turtleneck in the same color during Banana Republic’s sale and wore it with black faux leather pants last night.
Cute idea putting cookie cutters on the packages. Made sugar cookies with decorations yesterday with the grandkids…first year doing it with both of them. (grandson is 4 now) More decorations were going into his mouth than on the cookies. Thank goodness the cookies were only going to be eaten by family members! The kitchen was an absolute disaster by the time they went home lol.

It was fun to open your email this morning and read that you are in Gainesville, FL!!! So am I! We’re here visiting our kids, who are on the UF faculty, and the grands, but also because we bought a house here and are renovating it to retire (again). We hope to be moved in around May. I love your blog and watching you settle into your new home in the Jacksonville area.

Thanks, Janet. We just had a great BBQ lunch at mojo Hog Town. You have some smart kids!!
