Our San Francisco Home Tour

French commode and plants in foyer
For inspiration, here are apartment room ideas from our previous home in San Francisco. It’s fun to look back on this wonderful time as we create our new beach home in Jacksonville, Florida.
Updated Home Tour

Our San Francisco apartment was in a  high rise built in the 1920’s. We were lucky that most of the rooms have a view of the Bay. I will take you around room by room…

The small apartment only has two bedrooms so we painted all the walls white to make the space feel larger. The home has lots of natural light, making the interiors feel up-lifting.

Apartment Room Ideas

Foyer

There is a mix of French antiques (we lived in Paris for two years when our kids were little) and new things. We have rugs over the hardwood floors for coziness. An accent chair and bench provide some seating.

Living Room

The coffee table is a favorite “playing ground” to mix up accessories. Go ahead and rearrange yours…it’s just decorating 🙂 We put up natural wood blinds instead of curtains. Two 6′ sofas are versatile and we have them in our new home. We use a mix of table lamps and floor lamps as there are no recessed light fixtures in this old apartment.

Dining Room

We purchased new dining room chairs and a table since my last home tour. And I recovered the dining bench in performance fabrics. That mirror was in my childhood home. Using a mix of new and vintage makes it homey and less of a rental feel.

The  Circa Lighting chandelier is newer here. And I’m always changing the table runners and centerpiece. Not to mention the gallery wall in art with different frames.

We used this antique bookcase and a console table and for storage space for extra dishes.

This is a nice spot to enjoy the view and it feels like home.

The bed frame is a four poster with curtains for a lush feel. The ceilings in this apartment are 9′ high.

The bed linens are by Serena and Lily

Pine dressers with great storage.

Apartment Kitchen Decor Ideas

It’s your basic galley rental kitchen that I’ve tried to fix up with accessories like the Roman shade and washable runner. We also got approval to paint our kitchen cabinets Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter.

Our dated rental kitchen and bathrooms are a downer, so I focus on the positives like our view.

It’s compact but functional with small side tables, colorful wall art and a quilted velvet quilt.

Updated Home Tour Guest Room Ideas
Hopefully, this gave you some apartment bedroom ideas.  Our new blue and white guest room is here.

Before living in San Francisco, we lived in Newport Beach, California in a 1950’s cottage that we remodeled.  We decided to sell it as the market is so good. It’s been almost eight years since we lived there so it’s not as hard as I thought it would be.
