Decorating Tips To Create A Cozy Christmas Porch
Let me give you a tour of what we did to create a cozy Christmas porch this season. I’m so excited that we will use our back porch more when our children are here for the holidays.
And I’m joining some talented bloggers for their Christmas decor home tours, too! Their links are at the end of the post.
A Fire Pit To Create A Cozy Christmas Porch
A fire pit in a seating area creates a perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying conversation and some hot cocoa. I’m glad we pulled the trigger on this. It doesn’t really snow here in Jacksonville, Florida but it can get cold, especially at night.
The new 24” H x 36” W Concrete Propane Outdoor Fire Pit Table was easy to put together according to Howard and Tommy. I wanted one with the propane tank enclosed so that there would not be an exterior hose that could be a tripping hazard for guests.

The fire pit has an updated look with the streamlined concrete finish. The price was less than many that I researched (in fact, it’s on sale now and there is free delivery to arrive before Christmas!).

It comes with a tray that you can put over the fire grill for when you want to use it as a coffee table. There is also a heavy plastic cover.
Pillows And Fluffy Faux Fur Throw Blanket
Comfortable pillows and the warmth of a throw blanket encourage friends to stay a while.

Outdoor Holiday Decorations Like Christmas String Lights
Our handyman helped me install the budget-friendly garland icicle lights (similar) on the porch overhang. “Our winter wonderland” in our small backyard!

Plaid Table Cloth And Cloth Napkins
A plaid 100% linen table cloth with black linen napkins (12 for $20, several colors) were relatively inexpensive from Amazon.

I used Christmas tree gift tags and dried orange slices on twine from Amazon as diy napkin rings.
One of my favorite things: the orange slices come in a box with tied cinnamon sticks and mini pinecones that can be used as ornaments on your tree or on gift wrapping.
Winter Greenery Centerpiece And Candles
This tablescape with rustic charm will last throughout the holiday season.

I listened to Cindy’s advice and bought the faux cypress garland from Terrain (sold out) to use as a center piece with pinecones and round wicker placemats. You could also clip branches from your yard for fresh garland.

The vintage looking mercury glass assorted sized votives are on sale at Pottery Barn.
Outdoor Television And Cozy Screensaver
This crackling screensaver on the television is from You Tube. This is also a nice place for the guys to watch sports.
The festive wreath from Target adds a pop of color.

Hi Mary Ann,
I always get great ideas for decor and entertainment from you. The porch with the firepit and icicle lights is great. You’re lucky to be living where you can enjoy outdoor living most of the year. I know you remember some of the same with Southern California living. 😊

I love these cozy Christmas porch ideas! The mix of festive greenery, soft lighting, and welcoming touches like blankets and pillows really creates a warm, inviting vibe. The idea of using a simple wreath and garland to add charm without overwhelming the space is brilliant. It’s the perfect way to make your front porch feel like a true holiday retreat! I’ll definitely be borrowing some of these ideas for my own home.
Mary Ann, your back porch area looks as cozy as the front and the inside.
I love the fire pit! And the fireplace on the tv!
The plaid tablecloth looks beautiful as do the oranges!
Have a very happy and blessed Christmas!
MA … I’ll be right over for cocoa – or wine – out on your cozy winter wonderland! That fireable is awesome … hidden propane is a must but the best feature is the cover so you can use it as a table. Love that and wish ours had a similar feature. Your icicle lights create the perfect holiday ambiance. And that plaid table cloth. Your family’s going to have the best Christmas ever. But in the meantime, I’m on my way and I’ll bring the bubbles. Cheers! xo
MaryAnn your porch is so cozy and inviting. Loving the hanging lights and the warm welcome of the fire pit. Your table setting is perfect for outdoors or indoors! Great job 💚🌲💙
Hi Mary Ann, what a great idea to create a holiday gathering place on your porch! Great idea to add a firepit. I love your garland lights, too.
Hi Mary Ann,
Everything that you and Howard did is fabulous. There is nothing you did not think of. You are both so talented. To be a guest in your home is such a treat and memory to be treasured.
Mary Ann, I just adore your outdoor space here. It’s so pretty and I need that firepit too. I have been wanting one with a tank inside. Love how you did the table in plaid and the pretty garland and the name tags with oranges! I can’t wait to read your gift list for older kids. Great idea. So fun doing this. Hope you have a lovely Floridian Christmas! xo
I hope you have a beautiful California Christmas, Kim!
Love, love, love your patio😋 Does the fire pit provide warmth or is it more for ambiance? I have a feeling it will be in my cart before the day is over. 🔥
Bess, yes…it does make it warmer…especially when you crank it up.
Mary Ann, this is beautiful! How fun to have an outdoor living room and dining room to host family and friends. I love the view of the pool! It’s all so cozy and inviting! Your kids must be anxious to come home to this for the holidays!
xx
