Hello. I’m glad you are here! We are settling in nicely with our home’s new art, lighting, and other accessories. My painting by Pat Huber just got back from the framers and the electrician was here last week putting up new lighting. I’m excited to show you!
As every Sunday, be on the lookout for Annie and Cindy’s favorite things with links at the end of the post.
1. California Coastal Painting By Pat Huber Fine Art
Pat is the sweetest human being and artist. She is a dear friend of Cindy Hattersley’s and I’ve admired her artwork in Cindy’s home. I contacted her about commissioning a California coastal scene since we were leaving that coast for another.
And I love what she did…

2. Double Tiger Lilies?
What are these called? I love the petals. I got them at the grocery store.

3. Our Home’s New Lighting: A Basket Drum Shade For The Great Room
Our great room/living room is a big room and I wanted something with texture and drama. This drum shade from Ballard Designs fits the bill! It’s on sale right now.

4. My New Dental Hygiene Routine
I know boar-ring. But I just went to the dentist and I need to up my dental hygiene game. Do you have a Sonic Waterpik? (Electric Toothbrush and Water Flosser Combo In One).
Normally I would not like the looks of it out on our countertop…but since I’m not crazy about our counter top (I will change it for something more me eventually), I can live with it. The waterpik works…I just need practice.

5. Chic Neutral Embroidered Ensemble
This linen tunic dress comes in petite, regular and tall. The embroidery is so pretty. Wish it was my birthday or something (Howard, our anniversary is coming up–Petite Medium). This one of those pieces you could wear year after year.
I probably would wear it without the tie but possibly with leggings depending how short it is. You may like with with ankle leggings (I have these).

pretty lipstick shade • chic sunglasses • crossbody purse • espadrilles (the wedge and platform give some height but with stability and I like the stitching. Plus they are a good value).
If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up” phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.

Hi Mary Ann
I commented last week but it isn’t here! Must have been my computer issues. I was just going to put this tunic on my outfit of the week and thought I remembered seeing it here! Did you get it? I love it. Your home is looking so beautiful. It makes me happy that you are enjoying it so much
I’m so glad you love your new lighting! It really makes a difference in the overall look and feel of your home. I’m also glad you found a great place to store all of your art. It’s important to have a designated space for those special pieces.
Love everything about your new home. The art, the grocery store flower options, the new chandelier shade … even the Waterpik!!! Jim has the Waterpik and some other gadget as well. His nighttime routine is extensive, but his dental hygienist loves him. Hope Howard is reading this because that dress is adorable and you’ll look great in it when he takes you out to a fancy dinner on your anniversary! Did I hear 37 years?! xo
Hi Mary Ann, We have a Sonic care toothbrush and a Waterpic. Both were recommended by our dentist years ago. I keep the Water Pic under the cabinet vanity as I think it looks too cluttered on display. Yep, it takes a little practice not to get the spray of water all over! That embroidered dress is so cute!
OOPS: I went to Pat Huber’s website and I believe she works in oil (not watercolor) for the most part.
Your watercolor is a lovely memento of California!
I bought the “portable” water pik ~3 years ago when I had an injury to a molar and began having issues with “stuff” that flossing would not remove: only the water pik helped! I managed to “get it off my counter” by putting it in my tall vanity cabinet adjacent to my sink and plugging it into the quad plug that I had installed there and placing it in a plastic tray for drips. (I also keep my blow dryer plugged in there so I can just pull it out quickly.)
The Lillie’s are a double asiatic Lilly (hybrid). They last a long time (7-10 days) and smell divine. I often buy them myself when I am grocery shopping🙂. I too have a water pik but mainly use a sonic care rechargeable toothbrush and have for decades. It works but you must be consistent for the best results. Love the painting!
This was the first time I saw those flowers in our grocery store. Thanks for commenting!!
Hi Mary Ann,
Wow, what a great painting. It’s such a nice reminder of the Western coastline. The drum light in your family room is perfect. So pretty.
I’ve never seen the double blooms you’ve shared. They look like lilies of some kind, but the color and double bloom is new to me.
I recently received a water pic and honestly the learning curve was crazy. I had water splashes everywhere in the bathroom until I learned how to effectively use it. Haha.

HAHA! I squirted water everywhere too!
