Your guests will be surprised at the steps you’ve taken to make them welcome. Here are eight things you can do to make your guest room hotel-like…even in a small one like ours in San Francisco.

1. Spa-like Bath Robes To Make Your Guest Room Feel Like Home
Monogrammable hotel robes from Overstock–We have two sizes small/medium and large/extra large. We keep them out on hooks so that guests can easily see them. This is nice for guests to put on after a shower or when we have breakfast together in the morning.

2. Use Nice Linens
These embroidered sheets are from Pottery Barn (currently out of stock, similar at Serena and Lily) and the soft quilt (velvet on one side and linen on the other) is from Serena and Lily. Serena and Lily also have a similar upholstered bed.
The upholstered bed is several years old and still feels current! You can get it in performance fabric. For a change of pace, I added a cashmere throw blanket on the back in case guests want to throw it around their shoulders.

3. Display Fluffy Towels
Leave out fresh towels for your guests. (I like the white Spa Towels From Target).

4. Splurge on Fancy Water
Fancy water is nice but so is a nice carafe of water with a glass.

5. Provide Local Chocolates
Ghirardelli Square is not far away…just down the hill. We like dark chocolate with sea salt.
6. Electronics To Make Your Guest Room Hotel-like
Leave out a cordless charger like the one above for iPhones and iPods. Good lighting for reading is great and so is a small television. Make sure

7. Internet Code and Notepaper
The pink notepad has the internet code inside for guests.

8. Fresh Flowers
Sunflowers are cheerful but you could use any flowers from the grocery store or your garden.
Look how you can occasionally see cruise ships in the San Francisco Bay!

And those are eight ways to make your guest room hotel-like and comfortable!

What a lovely space and great ideas! Where is that gorgeous navy lamp shade from?
They are old from Pottery Barn.
Great ideas and such a pretty room! Wow that view! By the way, the link to the spa towels didn’t work. Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Mary Ann,
You are a very gracious hostess, I love what you did, opening your home to your friends and
providing all the creature comforts of home away from home is so important to do for loved
ones. I am sure Annie was so pleased with all your love and attention.
The view is so fabulous, oh wow it’s making me so home sick. Yes, I left my heart in San Francisco.
Cindy out did her self, and there is “two of you,” you two are really something so very special.
You are blessed to have one another.
You are so kind, Katherine!!!
Mary Ann, I can tell you firsthand that every one of these thoughtful details was appreciated and utilized. I could not believe I forgot my charger, but no worries, you had one! Right next to the yummy chocolates…, you are two short btw! I love that room, the view, every detail is lovely and perfect! Thank you for letting me stay and I loved the olive oil cake and dinner too!

Gosh, with your comforts and that view, your guests must feel like they are staying in a 5 star resort! Curious to know where the woven wood shades are from?
Thanks, Lisa. The blinds were here when we got here but I saw some similar ones at Blinds.com.
Lovely room that looks cozy. You thought of everything!
I am sure she slept well.
