5 Easy Ways To Refresh Your Home For Spring

March 7, 2024 By Mary Ann Pickett 11 Comments

Here are easy ways to refresh your home for Spring and breathe in new life. From switching up your textiles to adding a rustic bench and hat hooks to your back entrance, these simple tips will help you transform your home and make it a place you can truly enjoy.

I’m joining my friends, Cindy, Annie and Nancy for their Spring refresh ideas, too

Switch Up Your Textiles And Buy One New Pillow

Just one new throw pillow for the season can make your sofa renewed. I purchased the blue lumbar pillow at a local home store, Mrs. Howard, and it gives the sofa a new look.

Our spring cleaning includes washing the cotton slipcovers (which I do again in the Fall).

Consider swapping out dark pillow covers and throw blankets for lighter ones in pastel shades like soft blues, blush pinks, and pale greens. We did this in our foyer.

Infuse Fresh Scents

To infuse fresh scents into your home for spring, consider using essential oil diffusers, scented candles, or linen spray.

The right scent can evoke feelings of peace and relaxation, making your room feel more inviting and rejuvenated.

Smart Diffuser

We have our Pura 4 smart diffuser on a morning and evening timer plugged in our stairwell. There is a fresh scent in it called Salt “Warm citrus notes mingle with clary sage, freesia, and softwoods, creating a beautifully sweet and beachy scent.”

There are lots of scents from which to choose that last a long time. They arrive quickly with Amazon Prime and you can see all my home scents on Amazon here.

Bring in Fresh Flowers and Greenery

There’s nothing quite like the sight and scent of fresh flowers to lift your spirits and brighten up any room. Head to your farmer’s market or local grocery store and pick out a variety of blooms in vibrant spring colors like we did in our entryway.

Arrange tulips, daffodils or sun flowers in vases and scatter them throughout your home (such as in the powder room) for an instant burst of freshness.

You can also incorporate greenery such as potted houseplants to add a touch of nature to your space.

Replace Bed Pillow Inserts

When it comes to refreshing your home for spring, don’t forget about the small details that can make a big difference. One often-overlooked item that can instantly improve the comfort of your bedroom is replacing bed pillow inserts. You could try washing them in the machine but…

My daughter pointed out that the guest room pillow inserts had become flat and lost their shape (not very “hotel-like” for our guests). By investing in new, plump pillow inserts, you can not only improve the comfort and support of your pillows but also give your bed a fresh, inviting appearance.

We purchased these premium down and feather inserts, as well as, down alternative from Amazon and everyone loves them.

Add A Rustic Bench And Sun Hat Display

The addition of a bench not only provides a convenient spot to sit and lace up your shoes before heading out the door but also adds a touch of charm to your space. Choose a bench made of reclaimed wood for a timeless, rustic look that will stand the test of time.

For our back entrance, we bought this bench on Etsy from Salem House Woods. It’s by made by hand in the USA. The owner is really responsive.

It’s nice to have hats handy on display with the sunnier weather. The hooks are from Target.

So, by simply switching up your textiles, infusing clean scents, incorporating fresh flowers, replacing bed pillow inserts, and adding a rustic bench to your back entrance, you can refresh your home for the spring season.

Great Spring refresh ideas! Do you have any favorite sheet sets (no microfiber) that don’t wrinkle terribly? Wanting to refresh bedding and would love to know if you have any faves! Thank you!

    Hi Mary Ann,
You reminded me of the tasks I have to complete to get my home “Spring ready”. I’ve been sick with COVID and turns out I have pneumonia, so not much has gotten done lately! And I’m realizing how desperately I need new pillows on my bed, after being in it for so many days. Ugh. Anyway, great tips and your home always looks so calm, peaceful, and lovely.

I am really glad to hear about that diffuser. I never trust those scents unless someone recommends them! I love that cute bench with those hat hooks from Target. I have almost pulled the trigger on them so many times! I need them in my studio/office. You are so right about just changing out a pillow and what a difference it makes. I have to check out those pillows when I come to your home!!

We’ll have to let me know where Mrs. Howard is. We are back to Florida for another couple of weeks in April. I would love to see her store in person we’re not far from Saint Augustine so I’m thinking it’s probably a little further north by you. That blue bathroom wallpaper gets me every time! With the yellow daffodils it’s just perfect, everything looks great !!
