Exciting, New Glass-Front Display Cabinets
This post has been updated for 2023! Here’s why you should consider a glass-front display cabinet. These cabinets offer versatility in that you can use them as:
- a focal point in a living room where there isn’t one (like a fireplace, etc)
- for dish storage in a kitchen or dining room
- for display and storage in a bathroom
- to warm up a home office

And those are Glass-Front Display Cabinets for multi-use!
On Monday, Howard and I flew into Los Angeles and went to dinner Alie and her fiancé, Luca. We took the fancy caviar that Liana gave us (kept it cold in a Corkicle-lidded glass on the airplane). Luca set up this great display…

Update: These two are married and have a new baby!! Wedding in Madrid!

Great post – lots to think about. I’m trying to decide between wooden wall-to-wall bookshelves or something glass fronted. The latter would certainly give a more open, lighter look to my smaller study, but we have a great carpenter who has done some shelves for us already, and he does a great job at a very reasonable price.
I love them because there is less to dust!
True!!
LOVE every cabinet and display! Thank you for the eye candy and inspiration. May God continue to bless your sweet mom with health and happiness!
Thanks, Suzi!
Mary Ann,
What fun to have a wedding to look forward to planning at some point. I really enjoy the examples of lovely displays you’ve shared.
xo,
Karen
I have always loved Heather Bullard’s kitchen. I used one of those in my son’s house and in the entry of a favorite client. Love them! Great post.
Lovely:-)
All beautiful choices Mary Ann! We were fortunate to inherit a decent sized lucite display/shelving unit from my in-laws. I believe my mother-in-law purchased it from a retailer that was going out of business downtown many years ago. It was sort of a last minute decision to keep it for a corner in our office. I would have kept both of them if we could have!
Awww glad to hear your mom is doing well. Wow 96…hope you inherit her genes! Enjoy your time with her.

So awesome, Linda!!
Stacey,
Did you want to keep those special items in view but protected from dust, etc.? You might consider a smaller shadow box frame. I found one some time ago at Hobby Lobby for just such a display. There are also glass boxes found in jewelry departments, perhaps even lucite ones I’ve seen in bath, organization, or display areas at HomeGoods that would work! These cabinets are all beautiful, and wonderful options if you have wall space!
Good ideas, Sandy.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only who uses the Waterford grapefruits for something other than their intended purpose. Enjoy your mother’s birthday.
Yes! Don’t you always think that they would be such small grapefruit bowls?
Simply love these cabinets and wish I had a place for one. I’m especially drawn to the Crate and Barrel and the McGee ones but all are great. That beautiful display of caviar that Luca did looks very delicious. He’s a keeper!
I wish I had a place too…as it would be fun to style, Gail.
These are all beautiful pieces of furniture! Our open floor plan makes it so difficult for large pieces like this but I definitely appreciate them. I am interested in finding small tabletop-type cases to keep family things in….for example, old photos, pocket watch, jewelry, etc. Any ideas?
It sounds like some pretty trays would work for you, Stacey.
