Here are special pumpkins for Fall such as ceramic bowls, a beautiful enameled Staub pot, pumpkin pods for decor, and a fun craft to embellish your pumpkins with natural elements.
It’s Fall Five Faves with Annie and Cindy! And there are pumpkins for everyone!
1. Pumpkin Bowls
I look forward to pulling out these Bordallo Pinheiro (made in Portugal) pumpkin bowls every year.
Here is a little about the artist who created them:
“Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro’s factory developed hundreds of ceramic models of unparalleled creativity based on local traditions, particularly pottery, adopting the fauna and flora as decorative inspiration. His ceramic production became well known, especially for its artistic quality, both at a national and international level. This was achieved not only by the exuberance and creativity of his ceramic pieces but also by the high technical level achieved, mainly regarding modeling and glazing.”
2. Pumpkin Seeds in Candle Holders
The little white pumpkin pods are cute to place in hurricane candles. They come in orange, too.
3. Staub Pumpkin Pot–Heirloom Quality
We leave our Staub Pumpkin cocotte on the stove throughout Fall to use for soups and stews. This thing is so durable…I hope to pass it on to my granddaughter, Louisa, someday.
4. Naturally Embellished Pumpkins With Succulents or Fall Leaves and Twigs
Two years ago, I embellished real pumpkins with succulents.
This year, I was inspired by a video from Armstrong Gardens.
This one that Armstrong made is beautiful. We don’t really have any fall leaves in this part of Florida.
But I looked around our yard and the neighborhood. One thing that I thought would be fun to use was some of the mossy twigs that littered the ground after Tropical Storm Ian here.
I used Mod Podge for the leaves and a glue gun for the twigs and pumpkin pods. It was fun.
5. Chic Fall Outfit
Do you like neutrals? I don’t think I will be embracing the super-baggy jean look…how about you? I have straight jeans that are looser than skinny ones (but I’m still keeping the skinnies too).
On Thursday, we are talking about Fall Fashion Accessories with some ladies with style!
If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up” phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.
Let’s see what Annie and Cindy’s Five Faves are this week:

So happy you were spared the worst of the storm. And made lemons from lemonade … or pretty pumpkins from storm debris. Those pumpkins! Amazing. And your pumpkins bowls. They’re treasures. Everything you’ve got for us today is so good … isn’t fall style the best. In decor and on us … this outfit. Yes! xo

Glad you’re safe! Loved the post – the little pumpkins, your bowls and especially your decorated ones. Can’t wait to try this technique! Cute outfit!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Thanks, Barb. You should try decorating the pumpkins!
Liana says
The ivory pumpkin is absolutely adorable, would love for you to show how you decorated your front door for fall, thankfully Ian hasn’t affected much of your Florida coast, stay safe and enjoy every minute of your birthday month. Anticipated happy birthday to you.
Mary Ann Pickett says
I guess I can show a progress shot, Li, but we are waiting for a new front door and some washed terracotta planters.
Annie Diamond says
It’s perfect how many cool pumpkin things you own, like the bowls from your mom and the Staub pot. since you have an October birthday! It just seems perfect! Those pumpkins you did are the most beautiful thing I’ve seen! Wow! So gorgeous! And you just used things from your yard. So happy you are safe after the hurricane!
Mary Ann Pickett says
I didn’t realize we had many pumpkin things until I started writing the post! 🙂
Elizabeth@pineconesandacorn says
Mary Ann, so happy you came through the hurricane unscathed. It is heartbreaking to see the rest of the state. Having lived in Florida for many years I do not miss the storms.
I love your pumpkins! So cleaver. I might have to try this technique!
Have a wonderful week.
Mary Ann Pickett says
It’s so easy, Elizabeth. Just order the Hodge Podge stuff and a sponge brush!
Heidi says
Hi Mary Ann,
So relieved to hear you all made it through the hurricane ok. That must have been so scary, I can’t imagine going through that, I know I would have been terrified.
Your little pumpkins are lovely and fun to decorate. And to paint, too! My next workshop uses those same little pumpkins as inspiration.
Beautiful fall table and elegant outfit. ILove camel and cheetah print!
Take care!
.Xo Heidi

You did such an AMAZING job painting my pumpkin. You are so talented.

Hi Mary Ann,
So glad to hear that you are all okay in the Northeastern part of Florida. To watch on the news what happened to the Southwestern coast is just devasting.
Changing over to a much more joyful reply, your table is lovely, the pumpkin bowls and the pumpkin cocotte is fabulous. Loved the “pumpkin goodness that you created. I don’t think I have ever seen pumpkin seeds before they are adorable.
Andrea Kennedy says
Love the beautifully decorated pumpkins. Do you ever use Spanish moss in your decor?
Ian certainly gifted us with plenty! Like most of us here in Atlantic Beach, we are praying for our neighbors to the south and the Carolinas.
Mary Ann Pickett says
When we lived in Winter Park, FL, I used Spanish moss…but it really has to be cleaned well due to bugs. I soaked the mossy twigs with soap and water and surprizingly there were no bugs…Ian must have blown them away (or they knew to go undergrown).
Janet Arden says
Good to know Ian’s effect on you was minimal;. the devastation on some areas is just heartbreaking. i love your outfit of the week. I have had so many camel coats over the years — maybe time for a new one! Have a wonderful week.
Mary Ann Pickett says
I know…so sad. I’ve always wanted a camel coat.
Karen B. says
Hi Mary Ann,
My heart goes out to your state. I hope there wasn’t any major damage to your community.
The pumpkins look fun and festive. Thanks for passing on the ideas. I don’t think I’ll ever return to loose-fitting slacks or jeans but who knows? I’m most comfortable in straight leg or skinning slacks. 😊
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Thank you for your kind words about my fall.
Karen B.

Isn’t it funny about the wide-leg jeans? I remember getting used to skinny ones and now I love them as they stretch comfortably.
