WHAT IS classic • casual • home ?

1. classic*
2. casual**
3. home***
*1.  The classic Louis Philippe Commode
was purchased in Paris
(the year before the euro conversion)…
circa 1814-1818 for 15,000 francs
and the antique prints were also purchased in Paris (unframed)…
for 2600 francs (four prints in total).
I negotiated 200 francs off the price 🙂
**2. Casual wooden chairs were purchased from
Noir and custom upholstered.
Green velvet lumbar pillows are from
Crate and Barrel.
***3. The soccer ball is my son’s
and one of many items he leaves out
around our home.
Happy New Year from our home
to yours.

  1. You have a lovely home! I wish mine was so put together — not likely with the kids and the pets and not enough money to buy the furniture I would love to have — so I enjoy visiting blogs like yours to enjoy how lovely they are!

Visiting from the Friendship Friday hop 🙂

  2. What a great visual explanation of your blog name.

I love that you have documentation of your purchase – that is so cool. I keep all sorts of memories like that.

Im stopping by from Create with Joy Friendship Friday.

  3. What a superb post. Seeing the football under the (gorgeous) chair put such a big smile on my face.
Still, at least there's no teeth marks on your lovely French prints or biscuits stains on your beautiful chairs!!

Seriously though, your photos are of fantastic quality. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks so much for deciding to comment, rather than lurking! I look forward to getting to know you better.

  7. Hi Carla, the French commode is the dresser with the marble top above in the three photos. Ha! were you thinking of the other kind of "commode?"

  8. Hello Mary Ann,
Love your blog which I found through trouvais.com Especially love your display of white dishes. Didn't see a picture of the french "commode"…am I missing something?

  9. Hi Mary Ann. Thanks for the comment of my blog design. Loved your bathroom(s) post, sailboat paintings. Have almost finished a masterbthrm with Home Depot Carrara mosaics and trim. Great deal, and love that they let you return the excess, unlike my other tile source. Trish

  17. Mary Ann,
I wouldn't feel comfortable without a mess in my home. I would like to see a home that isn't messy if they have children. My children's rooms were their domain, and now that they are grown we still make messes, haha.
So in answer to your question; yes we have messes :).
