February 14th can be an opportunity to give a little Valentine gift your friends will love AND support a good cause. More on that in a bit. But first…
Annie, Cindy, and I have invited some other bloggers that we admire to share their “Galentine’s Day” ideas with links at the end of the post.
Valentine Gift Your Friends Will Love: Cute “Retro” Cards
These sweet cards from Anthropologie feel like a modern version of the ones we used in grammar school! You can write personalized notes on the back.

Athletic Socks For Valentine Gifts For Friends
When I volunteered in the clothing department of St. Anthony’s (a homeless outreach center) here in San Francisco, our clients came in for free clean clothing that was donated in good condition. They could all use fresh socks. So when I read that Bombas donates one pair of socks for every one purchased…I liked the idea! And they are cute!

I simply wrapped a pair in white tissue with pretty adhesive tape.
Pink Mailer Envelopes And Tags
The pink mailer envelopes are from Amazon. I created the “girly” address labels with Canva and used the Avery template online. I think my labels were old since they didn’t stick very well so once they were addressed, I covered them with clear mailing tape.

I had to mail most of the Valentine gifts to friends but was able to give them to Lisa, and my sister, Teresa when we were together recently in Napa, California.

Teresa liked the message I wrote inside hers… You can read more about her Ageless Style here.

More Valentine’s For Friends Ideas From My Buddies

Hi Mary Ann,
What a wonderful idea for friends on this holiday…is Valentine’s Day a holiday? Haha. It is so nice at our age to have such good friends and our history is very special.
xo,
Karen
Mary Ann, It’s so nice you work at St Anthony’s. Right now there are more people than ever that need a little help. I love the Bombas! They are the best socks ever and feel amazing on. I did not know they gave a pair to a person in need. Love that. Your idea of sending the cute valentines with a pair of socks is really sweet. It’s the little things like that, that say a lot. Love this post. xx
Mary Ann! You have the best ideas! And thoughtful on so many levels. I love the old-fashioned valentine’s! So cute and the socks, I got mine today! Thank you! So fun to see that pink envelope in my mailbox today! Such a great photo of you ladies in Napa!
xx
Oops I forgot to acknowledge the picture of you, Teresa, and Lisa taken in Napa, that is
a treasure.
You are the sweetest!!!
So nice that you volunteer at St. Anthony’s. I can imagine what a humbling experience this can be. It sure
helps you not to forget to count your blessings. There are so many homeless people in San Francisco that
are in so much need. St. Anthony’s is blessed to have you serve.
The Galentine Day care packages that you created for your friends is so practical and thoughtful. Love the
vintage Valentine card. I am a card person so I really think that is such a great touch, and the pink mailing
envelope too. You have a heart of gold, that just keeps giving.
This is such a sweet way to show appreciate towards loved ones! Thanks for me having me on this blog hop Mary Ann!
This is such a great idea, I just ordered a bunch of socks as gifts too. Your idea is so thoughtful, who doesn’t love a nice new pair of socks?!? Happy “Galentine’s” Day!
I want to order some more as I gave all mine away! Thanks for joining us!
So sweet! It’s been too long since I’ve made my own VD cards! Thanks for inviting me to participate
MaryAnn, this is so sweet. I ordered the same cards and for the same reason. I have heard of the sock company but have yet to make a purchase, you have inspired me to do so. Love the photo of you and your sister and friend. Beautiful.
Thanks so much, Elizabeth!
Mary Ann … this is such a lovely idea and your friends are going to be thrilled and touched. Ok, you win in the Valentine department … doing something so thoughtful to help those in need while blessing your gal pals. You’re a true friend. xo
I just loved your table and menu, Juliet…I’m still salivating!
Mary Ann
What a clever idea. You have such a flair with gift giving. You always know exactly what to give someone and it is always presented in style. Absolutely darling, and I love the pictures of you ladies in Napa. You should frame that!
Thanks, Cindy!!!
