In the late afternoon, a lot of people here in Atlantic Beach, Florida, sit out on their front porches. It’s a friendly place. Everyone waves when I am out walking Chief.
We wanted a place to sit and wave back. After researching the best modern Adirondack rocking chairs, we decided on POLYWOOD. Here’s why:
- Their commitment to recycling millions of landfill and ocean-bound plastic. I really like this.
- POLYWOOD furniture is built to withstand all four seasons including the heat, humidity, and salt here in Florida. It will never need to be sanded or painted again.
- It’s made in the USA and has a 20-year guarantee.

POLYWOOD gifted us these chairs (but we were going to buy them anyway). There are lots of colors. We chose Sand.
Our New Front Porch
Here is our front porch decorated for Fall. I mixed real and faux pumpkins from Target. The mums are new, so they will blossom more soon in time for Halloween.

Howard’s Favorite Place To Read The Newspaper In The Morning
This rocking chair is Howard’s favorite place to read the paper every morning after his run (even with the cold snap we are having). The striped outdoor pillow is on clearance at Pottery Barn.

A Door Basket Instead of A Wreath
This large door basket from Ballard Designs is filled with Fall faux leaves and twigs that I already had. It’s fun as I can change the filler with the seasons. It’s hung on the glass with a Command Strip.

Porch Updates To Come But The Best Modern Adirondack Rocking Chairs Are Staying!
We are updating a few things out here (stay tuned) but one thing is for sure. We love our chairs just where they are…so does Chief. He knows where to find Howard to give him breakfast!

Mary Ann!
I love your new Plywood chairs. They are perfect for your porch! Just think, you’ll be able to rock little Louisa out here before you know it!
I love the door too! Everything looks great!
Your new Florida home is so beautiful ! I love a front porch to sit, relax and hopefully, chat with neighbors. That Chief is the cutest doggo ever !
May I ask – how did you decide on Atlantic Beach ?
Everything looks welcoming, you made everything so cozy. The door basket is wonderful. It’s so smart how you
repurpose mother nature.
The picture of fur baby Chief is too cute,
Mary Ann,
Your nod to sustainable is admirable as well as beachy beautiful. Thank you for your commitment and to Polywood for rewarding you.
Enjoy your neighbors,
Diney now on Mercer Island
POLYWOOD is a great company!
I love porch sitting too. It’s relaxing to sit outside with a coffee and a good book. The neighbours walking by stop to say hello and chat. I have comfy wicker furniture with nice thick seat cushions on my porch. I love to decorate my porch with the seasons.
Enjoy your porch sitting, Mary Ann!
Love the chairs and love your porch. Sitting on your front porch is such a great way to meet neighbors. I always loved porches.
That’s true, Pat!
I love your front porch Mary Ann. Those Polywood chairs look great. They are just perfect for there! The color is fabulous! Love your front door and hanging basket as well.
YOUR front door basket is amazing!!
Mary Ann, we love our porch! We had one for 13 years in VA and now one here in NC. We can watch the people and the pups walk by as well as enjoy watching our pups frolic. Love all of your new touches and chairs.
That sounds like fun, Elizabeth!
Everything looks for inviting! I can imagine how lovely it is to sit and sip coffee in the mornings!
Thanks so much for sharing!
Howard loves it…he does take his coffee out there while I’m still in my p.j.s!
Our Polywood chairs and bench have been outside, not covered, for about 4 years. They still look good! I wash them with the hose and wipe them dry. Love them!
Good to hear, Nancy!
