Summer Essentials: Comfortable Sandals, Breezy Linen, Strawberries
Hello. It’s warm here in Jacksonville, Florida. And next month we are planning a trip to steamy Vietnam. So that has me thinking about comfortable sandals that you can walk miles in and breezy linen clothes. I also wanted to share other Summer essentials like shade for the beach, good things at the Way Day sale and an easy dessert hack that I made recently. It’s Five Faves time with Annie and Cindy.
Like A Day At The Beach
Last weekend, since our friends, Billy and Julz were visiting, we decided to have a relaxing few hours on the beach with Mark and Mercedes.

Of course, we needed shade! Mercedes brought the well-priced 6′ blue sun umbrella that screws into the sand. And I brought our easy to carry and install Shibumi wind canopy. We were saying that we needed to do this more often!
Linen for Warm Weather
Now is the time to score linen from J. Crew during their 30% off sale. A matching linen top and pants feels easily put together and J. Crew has several colors.

Irish linen button down size small in windy blossom • Soleil linen drawstring pants in petite small, tall and regular available too (they are $75 right now during a flash sale) • fresh white cropped tee by Spanx

I added accessories that give the look some structure: classic sunglasses • Lisi Lerch beaded necklace (great for travel) • adjustable for waist or hips chocolate brown belt • comfort gladiator sandals
My Friends’ And My Approved Comfortable Sandals
The chocolate brown comfortable sandals are new and I love them.

These will be good for our trip to Vietnam next month.
Other Great Cushy Sandals

- I’ve shown my Quince “platform” sandals before. They keep selling out but if you do get on the waitlist, they eventually come in.
- I have these Fitflop leather flipflops and my friend, Dendy was wearing a pair too at our house for dinner on Thursday. We were both commenting about how we like them (lots of colors) and I like how they give me a little height.
- Mercedes just ordered these cute Fitflop back strap sandals (more colors) which will be great for her Italy trip.
Way Day: Wayfair’s Three Day Sale (4/25 – 4/27)
I’m writing this post from our recently furnished small porch off the upstairs office. Soon to be revealed once I have a few more finishing touches. BUT our five piece wicker furniture set that we purchased from Wayfair (with free shipping) is now on sale (#ad) and I didn’t want you to miss it if you are in the market. And by the pool, our aluminum Reclining Chaise Lounge Chairs Padded with Quick Dry Foam is on sale.
Also, our toddler grandkids have been loving this sturdy slide that we sent to them (again with free shipping). And our daughter likes the white/grey neutral colors.
They bought four new Solid Wood Dining Chairs (Set of 2) in a dusty green (lots of colors) for their kitchen. I especially like to see the Wayfair verification checkmark (they put that on all the products personally vetted).
Finally, my sister, in San Diego likes her rattan paneled headboard from Wayfair. It has a nice, textured coastal vibe.

Strawberries and Brownie Dessert Hack
A confession: I have a problem with baking desserts as basically I eat ALL the leftovers. So for our little dinner party Thursday night, I used small glasses and put some strawberry ice cream in the bottom, then a layer of Publix grocery store brownies, topped by another layer of strawberry ice cream. I put the glasses in the freezer until ready to serve.

Then, just before serving, I topped them with previously sliced strawberries and some mint from our garden. The fancy glasses make them them seem a little special.
I’m going to make this in a plastic cup for our granddaughter, Louisa whose favorite ice cream flavor is strawberry (although that may be due to its color). They are coming to visit in July.

A typo: its color, not it’s.
Thanks so much, Cara. My husband caught a typo too…I like to fix them ASAP.
I look forward to your post every week!
