Merry Christmas to you! What a weird year (an understatement)…but here are our ideas for holiday fun while trying to stay safe. I hope you enjoy them.
1. Plan Menus ~ Since We Can’t Eat Out
This year, our son Thomas (who is becoming quite the chef like his dad) drew up a menu for us to get excited about…and pitch in and shop (I just put it on pretty paper).
Christmas Brunch ideas are here.
I’m definitely getting back on a weight loss program in January!
2. Take A Walk With Music
One year, Tommy brought a small Beats Pill with us on our family hike…it really put a pep in our step! Great portable sound. Not the best photo…but you can see we are happy!
3. Text Happy Holiday Photos To Family Not With You
Send smiling shots to the folks that can’t be with you and tell them you love them.
4. Play Cards and Board Games
I love to play games. I never really win at Scrabble…but that doesn’t mean I don’t keep trying!
5. Watch A Family Fave Movie
Our annual faves are Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and Elf.
But we recently watched action-packed True Lies and Airforce One again (Amazon Prime). It’s usually some sort of compromise between the men and women (no kids in the mix yet). I mean I’d like to watch The Holiday again… but that won’t fly with our little group. I have been watching some fun/corny romance movies while the guys are watching football…I’ll tell you about them on my Sunday Five Faves.
Have any movie recommendations for me?
6. Make A Toast
At holiday meals, when we were children, my father would make us each stand up and make a toast. It was a little unsettling at the time…but now I enjoy it. Make it brief. “You don’t want to lose your audience”, my dad would say.
Those are our Ideas For Holiday Fun during a pandemic. The light is at the end of the tunnel.

Oh my goodness, drooling over your holiday menus. If I send this to the adult kids in our family do you think they’ll take the hint? Probably not, so if you could accidentally slip me Thomas’ address … surely he would take in wandering friends. I mean, it’s Christmas. Ha. I love that your dad had you all make a toast. I’m sure it was terrifying, but you’re probably a fabulous toast-mistress now! Merry Christmas! xo

I love that Tommy comes up with the menu. Great job Tommy. It all sounds fabulous. I like board games too but I am terrible. We normall puchase a new board game to play Christmas eve but not this year as it will just be the four of us. The good news is we think if no one gets sick next week we can celebrate with the whole family. Looking forward to that. Enjoy the time with your family and your sweet mom. Your sister is a saint by the way.

What a wonderfully ambitious menu. You must be exhausted from all of that typing!!! Tough work; someone has to do it! Regarding the Milanese, tell Tommy to consider using cornstarch rather than flour. I think it makes it a lighter (think tempura!) tasting crust! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday and may be best team win. Boomer Sooner! (OU, 1971!!) Last time didn’t go so well for us…

Ha! I just copy and pasted what Tommy typed. I will mention the cornstarch
…sounds great. Thanks.
Merry Christmas!

Happiest Season (Dan Levy, Aubrey Plaza, Kristen Stewart) is funny and sweet and restored my faith in holiday movies! We tried watching two movies on a channel known for Christmas rom coms (rhymes with Mallshark) and couldn’t make it 15 minutes into either one. 😉 Merry Christmas!

You are so funny. Thanks for the tip, Sarah!
