Here are pretty wallpaper ideas for a powder room. Bold patterns, colors, and or textures make a big impact in a small space without the giant commitment. Plus it’s just fun to surprise your guests!
Welcome to our Sunday Five Faves with Cindy and Annie including lovely wallpaper ideas for a powder room, my addictive lemon squares, and what to read and watch!
1. Pretty Wallpaper Ideas For A Modern Coastal Powder Room
We really enjoy the fresh wallpaper in our small foyer that is viewable from several rooms. It needed to “flow.” But in our closed-off powder room… an element of surprise can be fun! I would like to change the vanity, too. So stay tuned for that.
Here are some wallpapers under consideration.

Serena and Lily Striped Wallpaper in two colors

Some other ideas I have been playing around with…

And I’m waiting for a few more samples before making a decision.
Check out my Wallpapers and Stencils Pinterest Board.
2. Chewy Shortbread Crust Lemon Squares
In the interest of using up our lemons and wanting a homemade dessert for a little dinner party, I made Lemon Squares using a recipe from Tastes Better From Scratch.
And they DO taste better from scratch than say the ones from Trader Joe’s. Plus they are easy, require few ingredients and the house smells great. Since we like some tartness, I added some lemon zest, too.

I sent several squares home with our dinner guests. They are better refrigerated.
3. J. Crew Dress On Sale
This comfortable ” Afternoon Dress” dress is 35% off. It runs a little smaller (I’m wearing a small) and it’s not lined (but you can’t see through it so it’s actually cooler). This is a similar necklace from Etsy.

The sparkling water with lime and lemonade ice cube recipe is from our recent Summer Drinks post.
Speaking of J. Crew…I have this featherweight cropped cashmere sweater. It looks/is luxe and I always get compliments on it. Good for Fall or over air-conditioned places.
4. What To Read: “My Dear Hamilton” A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton

This is a good historical novel to immerse you in the first years of America fighting to become a nation. It’s interestingly told from the perspective of Hamilton’s wife, the daughter of a general.
5. What To Watch: The Bear
Howard, Tommy, and I all enjoy this series. We are using Tommy’s Hulu membership while he’s here (no commercials). May have to spring for it on Disney +.
“A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family.”
The good news is that it’s coming back for Season Two. Watch out as it will make you hungry for a Chicago Dog.
If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up” phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.
Let’s see what Annie and Cindy’s Five Faves are this week:
I am actually looking for wallpaper for my powder room! Great choices.
Loved dear Hamilton.
Have heard a lot about the Bear but have not watched.
Your dress looks beautiful on you! Off to check it out.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks, Elizabeth!!
Mary Ann, Love all your paper choices and allowing your board now! The Serena one is especially lovely. I also love Sigourney as someone mentioned! I am getting this Hamilton book. That dress is adorable on you. xo
All the wallpapers you show are beautiful, but I LOVE the first one (Jack’s Jungle)
Such a classy blog you have. Thank you!
Thanks so much, Sue!
Loved My Dear Hamilton. It was a great read. Would like to see The Bear, loved Jeremy in Shameless. Your three blogs are my favorite Monday morning read. Thanks!
I just have one chapter left of My Dear Hamilton…so savoring it!
I am loving seeing wallpaper again! (I must be over the hours and hours spent removing the old wallpapers, and swore I would never use it again) On my radar is something for my laundry (entry from garage) area. You have your work cut out picking from all those pretty samples!
I spent hours stripping wallpaper in the early 90’s. It’s easier now.
I love wallpaper and I’m so glad it’s coming back in style. There are so many wonderful patterns out there that it’s hard to choose one, but I know you will make a beautiful choice and your powder room will be fabulous just like the rest of your new Florida home.
Always love your Sunday Five Favs, so many great finds to check out. Your blog is still my #1 favorite blog of all that I follow. Thank you!
Gail, you are just the sweetest! I have the Rocky and Chief art that you did proudly displayed in our new home!!
Love all the wallpapers, the Thibault palm frond is a real wow. Your lemon squares … yum. I’m super interested in this book. And the Bear is on my watch list too. Cutest dress! Have a great week. xo
Mary Ann,
All of the wallpapers are beautiful! And I do like something a little bold in a powder room. Why not, right?
The Bear sounds interesting! We need a new series. We just started rewatching Ted Lasso!
Love your “Afternoon Dress” – perfect for your ladies’ loft!
xx
We loved Ted Lasso!
Both palms have my vote but especially the all blue one!
Ok…it’s a contender!
I think all of your wallpaper selections are good ones but I think the Phillip Jefrfrires is more you. Thanks for the book tip that one sounds amazing. I bet it is fun having Tommy there!
Love the first one with the blue leaves and the Schumacher one. I think the Schumacher has more longevity as you will not get tired of it so quickly but any of these will look awesome. I would like to wallpaper my powder room but as it is open plan on a small hallwayI don’t know where I would finish.
I like the Kara Miller paper.
I like that one too.
I love the Thibaut Palm Frond!
If you think it is a little bold, consider doing one focal wall in your powder room and adding paintings and other decor.
We chose a very lively “Aesop’s Fable” wallpaper (that I found at Liberty of London in 2017) for our powder room, but the younger designer who helped me with a complex new build home suggested doing only a single wall, when I had in mind to do 4 walls, and possibly ceiling, too! We did a soft metallic paint in the paper’s background green color, an arched mirror with a 1″ bevel and antique vanity (hubby re-finished it) with an arched marble backsplash to add interest. I think going with one papered wall turned out to be the right choice in a really dramatic paper, and perhaps a bit more modern for a powder room than my original approach.
My 2 cents!
The wallpapers are all lovely but since you have a leafy abstract paper in your foyer, it may be nice to have something a little different. I’m sure knowing your flooring, cabinet and countertop, would make the decision process easier. Anxious to see what you choose.
I would love to see a tour of your entire home even if it’s before any renovations/redecorating. It’s always so gratifying to see before and after.
I think the Thibaut Palm Frond will be perfect in your new Florida home!
I agree with some others – #1 & #5!
Thanks for your input, Patty!
I love the Serena and Lily paper in blue and white. I’m sure whichever one you decide on will look amazing. I like The Bear. It will be fun to watch a second season.
Have a great weekend.
Karen B.
Did the last episode make you tear up, Karen?
Jack Jungle just has that look of elegance very fitting for your home in Florida.
Thanks!!!
Thibaut never disappoints. Love the two tones and the texture, making the paper a bit sophisticated coastal. Is that any oxymoron?
I like that one too…have more Thibaut samples sent.
Of the ones listed, I like Jack’s Jungle. But my absolute favorite is one that you have listed on your Pinterest board. It’s Quadrille China Seas- Sigourney. It’s positively stunning in person and comes in various colors.
I’ve used that one for a client before.
#1 pick — the Schumacher, #2 Serena and Lily in blue
Ok…thanks for your input!
Love the Galbraith and Paul in Fern. Nice counter balance to your hallway paper!
It’s cool, isn’t it?
I think the Thibaut palm frond is beautiful!!
me too…and it has texture.
I’m in the Jack’s Jungle camp. Love those big but subtle monstera leaves. When I had a house in Kona, the powder was wallpapered in a bold leaf pattern (much less subtle than #1) and it created a dramatic statement in a small space. Go big or go home!
I’m sure whatever you chose will look great.
Go BIG….good motto!
My vote is for the blue Jack’s Jungle as well. The block print one is great, too, but doesn’t pack a punch like the others.
I think that is a good choice…it’s on grasscloth.
I have loved that Serena & Lilly green and pale blue pattern and considered it for our bed.
How do you find a good wallpaper installer? It seems none of the painters in Naples want to bother with it. I, too, am dying to do a refresh in our powder room!!
The Thibaut Palm Frond is gorgeous!
I know…I am torn.
I vote for the light blue Jack’s Jungle wallpaper. I like the larger print and it does have that coastal feel. I find its larger pattern soothing, rather than the tighter, smaller prints you’re considering. Good luck!
I like it too.
I quite like #1& #5 , given your coastal location. Can’t wait to see what you choose. The lemon bars look yummy, wish I had one right now!
I have pillows in the #5 pattern and like them!
I like the first wallpaper you show. It has a fresh coastal feel. The colors and pattern are somewhat subdued so it wouldn’t overwhelm the small space. At first glance you don’t notice that it is palm fronds you are looking at, which is very clever. It seems to compliment the rest of your home’s decor; it has a nice vibe.
Thanks, Susan…something to consider!
Schumacher or Fern robin’s egg are my choices. All are beautiful patterns and I’m sure you’ll choose just the right one
Thanks, Mary…I like them all so I don’t think there is a bad choice.
The Serena/Lily blue stripe or for Wow!the Thibaut
It is pretty!!
