Pretty Desk Accessories, How To Frost A Window For Privacy

Today for my Five Faves with Cindy and Annie, I want to tell you about some inexpensive but pretty desk accessories like boxes for pens and pencils, a tray, and photo frames. Also, I’d like to show you how I made our bathroom window more private, a fab shrimp and grits recipe, and more!

1. Frosted Window Glass Film For Privacy

Our bathroom is big and relatively new…just not to my taste. This will be one of our last rooms to update due to the expense. But one inexpensive thing I could do was to add privacy and more light with this etched glass window film.

I had used this film before for our Newport Beach home on the closet/dressing room window.

You can get the window film in a roll at a hardware store like Home Depot or on Amazon. It’s non-stick but adheres nicely to a clean window with water.

And that was all there was to it…plus it gave me a window ledge for a little styling.

3. Luxe Libeco Linen Towel From Shop Most Lovely Things

Did you know Annie opened an online shop with lots of good things like French copper pans and linen dish towels?

I splurged on this beautiful Libeco linen towel for myself but it would make a fine gift too. That sturdy step stool from Serena and Lily is used often (20% off with code: Spring)!

4. Pretty Desk Accessories To Add Function And Style To Your Workstation

The Studio McGee line at Target has some new items like these faux shagreen boxes that can be used as pen holders (instead of pencil cups) and trays. These would look nice on a console or coffee table but they gave me the boost to organize my desk!

When I want to raise my computer camera for video calls, I put it on top of the boxes to use as a laptop stand.

The pin/inspiration board with calendar pages is by Pottery Barn.

The photo frames are also from Target.

That’s how I’m using my cute desk supplies. The nearby closet holds the filing cabinet with loose papers in files, business cards, and office supplies for a cleaner look.

5. My Perfect Place With My Laptop Opposite The Desk

This is where I love to recline on the pillows and write and read (and Chief likes getting his Vitamin C). More about this room and a review of the daybed here.

  1. You can also find window film with various patterns. I used it in a small bathroom window behind plantation shutters. Now I can leave the shutters open all the time and see a lovely pattern behind them.

Can you tell us which fabric in oatmeal that you used on the day bed? Thanks Sue

  3. Mary Ann great idea! Looks very pretty and soft with the frosted glass. Also adore your desk and pinboard! Those boxes are lovely. Have fun at the wedding!

Hi Mary Ann -I didn’t experience grits until we came to Kentucky. We were recently in a restaurant in Cincinnati and the couple at a nearly table, visiting from Australia, asked us, “can you tell us what ‘Grits’ are?” I asked the waitress to bring them a sample and we became new friends that evening!” She was a painter too! Grits can bring people together. 😊

    Mary Ann,
I love the idea of using that film! It gives privacy, but still lets the light in. I may need to replace my cafe curtain in our powder room! Love the jar of French soaps too!
Thanks for the shout out on the shop! That’s so sweet! And I love how the linen towel looks with copper!

Love copper cookware! How do you keep it from tarnishing in north Florida ocean air? (We’re neighbors) We moved here from Maryland less than two years ago. Copper always adds such an elegant and cozy touch to kitchen decor but it’s high maintenance in this climate! Any tips?

    1. We just wash them with Barkeeper’s Friend after using. I do find that I need to wash them more here.

Thanks! I do polish after ever use so I guess it’s just the climate and humidity. I wonder if there is product that would slow the tarnishing. If you ever learn of one do share the info please .Thanks.

  7. Happy Sunday, Mary Ann,
The grits recipe looks delicious. I’ve never cooked grits. I might have to try it.
I love your office space. The bed Chief is laying in is great. Where did you find it?
Have a wonderful rest of the day. I always find great ideas on these posts from each of you talented women.
