Hello and welcome to our Five Faves this week with Annie and Cindy. If your powder room could use some love, I have curated a group of small stylish powder room vanities for you in different stains and finishes.
Also included is a powder room with a before and after. There is also something great to watch on television and a couple of faux trees that can pass my fake tree snobbery test.
1. How A Mirror Can Reflect The View Like Art
When I was at my client, Melba’s house recently I enjoyed seeing how the art in this vignette is similar to the view reflected outside. I love mirrors for their ability to do this.

2. Powder Room Stylish Vanity Before and After
This shows what new paint, a vanity, and flooring can do!

Here is another nice vanity from Wayfair:

3. Powder Room Stylish Vanities
If you are considering updating your small powder room, here are some good choices…

1 White — 2 Walnut (this is in the above before and after) — 3 Light Grey
4 Concrete — 5 Green — 6 Gray Green
7 Caned — 8 Dark Blue — 9 Maple

4. What To Watch : The Gilded Age
We’ve been enjoying this show on HBO.
5. Realistic Faux Trees
My client has the ficus tree on the left and I saw the fiddle leaf tree in my Pottery Barn recently.

If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up” phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.
Let’s see what Annie and Cindy’s Five Faves are this week:
Melba’s house is lovely … and that mirror! A window to the outside world. Love these small vanity options. Every house I’ve lived in has had a tiny bath or powder room and replacing the vanity was a real conundrum … so great to have beautiful choices without resorting to pedestal sink (and no storage). I want to watch the Gilded Age … I’ve heard mixed reviews but I know I’ll love it just because of the sets and amazing actors. Oh my gosh, that ficus … I need it. Now. At Snowberry!!! xo
MaryAnn, your designs are lovely. I love a before and after and I also like the fact that you provide products that are available to the masses and not special to the trade items. The blue vanity is one of my favorites. We are getting ready to remodel a powder bath and a master, the master will have custom cabinets but the powder doesn’t need that so I am on the lookout for a small vanity. Thank you for the tips and thank you for your very kind comment. Have a wonderful day!
Thanks, Elizabeth!
Hi Mary Ann
Great small vanity roundup! You have the best TV show selections. I am going to add the gilded age to my list1. Your live fiddle leaf trees are amazing. I did notice the one in PB looked very realistic!! That small bath refresh is so good. You made the most of that tiny space!!
Mary Ann, I always love your before and afters! You make everything beautiful! I love how you even bring attention to the reflection in the mirror. The view becomes art…love that!
Oh yes, I saw the first episode of The Gilded Age and loved it! Those are some nice vanities too!
Looking around my home and it feels dated. Is anyone decorating with colored walls any more? Or is “the thing” only white walls? I guess I like more color… ?
If you like color…go for it. I see lots of colors like green is the color of the year. It’s just using color and keeping it fresh. I will admit that I am enjoying white right now and have been for 10 years but I have had every shade (except purple) on my walls in the past.
Mary Ann, I am impressed how many cool vanities can be just bought off the shelf now! A nice selection here for every style. The one you show with the shiplap looks great. I have a real huge ficus tree inside and that faux one looks pretty good!
Hi Mary Ann,
I really enjoy viewing mirrors in a home and what they reflect.
The after power rooms and vanities turned out so well.
Nice vanities, I am especially fond of the green and blue ones. (can you tell I like color?) After giving up finding a plant that would survive in a smaller corner with lower light I bought a Bunny Williams 5′ fiddle at Ballard Designs. More leaves near the bottom and not as wide as the PB one if someone is in need of a smaller plant. Pretty realistic. ☺️
Linda
Thanks for the tip, Linda. I’m going to check out Ballard now!
Hi Mary Ann: Do you have links to the faux trees?
Yes the links are just under the title Faux Trees.
