Flameless and Scented Candles To Ease Into Fall

It’s about this time every year when I start craving candlelight again. The days are still warm here in Jacksonville, Florida, but I want that cozy glow back as the sun fades. How about you?

Today, I’m sharing my favorite flameless and scented candles, a great sale, an outfit helping me ease into Autumn and a thought-provoking book. It’s Sunday Faves time with Annie and Cindy.

Fall Candles

This year I’ve leaned into a mix of flameless and scented candles that let me get the ambiance easily.

Flameless tapers for the mantel

I got the idea to add taper candles from Cindy’s post on a Beth Webb mantel. But real candles dripping wax onto a mantel are never fun. My new premium flameless wax tapers (in natural) solve that. They flicker just enough to look real from across the room. The candles have timers but are also remote control adaptable.

They are paired with old black metal candlestick holders (similar) and add warmth even when the fireplace is not on.

Hurricane vases

I bought the heavy glass hurricane vases on the mantel when we lived in Paris 25 years ago. Since candles are harder to light inside them, flameless pillars really make sense here. The hurricane glass (similar) doubles the glow.

It’s a good idea to have a flameless pillar candle in a powder room where you might forget a lit candle. Capiz hurricane holder here.

One Real Candle on the Coffee Table

I’m not fully flameless, though. On the coffee table, where you see the flame up close, I still love a real, high-quality scented or unscented candle.

Lately, I’ve been loving Feu de Vie from Les Composantes that I bought at Sézane in Paris. It comes beautifully packaged (nice gift) and in a ceramic vessel. The scent is warm and pleasant…”Essences of Guaiac wood, Cade wood and Patchouli.”

I placed the candle on a round wicker tray and added a glass hurricane sleeve (two things I’ve had for years). Look around your home or in your cupboards for a special way to display your candle.

Real (but unscented) candles for the table

When it comes to setting the dining table, I always have real candles. Those are unscented so they never compete with dinner.

My favorites are unscented beeswax candles. They cost a little more but I keep buying them as:

• they are high quality 100% pure beeswax. 100% cotton wick.
• Made in the United States.
• They keep the flame burning for up to 5 hours so they stay lit through dinners
• The slow burning process provides a dripless feature

Easy Trick For Battery-Operated Candles

Here’s my favorite tip: hide a premium flickering candle remote somewhere pretty. I keep mine tucked inside a decorative box on the coffee table, right along with the TV remote.

One click and the mantel comes to life at once. It sounds like a small thing, but it means I actually use my candles every night instead of leaving them dark because lighting each one feels like a chore.

There are subplots but basically it reminded me that you can never tell what people are going through. It makes me want to work on being less judgmental (which I think we can be more of as we age). Have you read it?
