Are things warming up where you are? They are here in Northern California! Since we aren’t using our fireplace much now, I wanted to show you ways to Lighten Your Fireplace For Summer.
Our son is moving to an apartment in Los Angeles with a non-working fireplace, so these ideas would work for him all year round.
Add Some Greenery
In the past, I have added some a couple of ferns to the fireplace. This year, I decided to try consolidating a few plants here with an old Chinese stool.
There are some affiliate links to things I like at no extra cost to you. The small commission offsets my blog expenses which are too boring to detail. Thanks, guys!
Birch Logs
Often when we aren’t having a fire, I will put a basket of birch logs in the firebox to lighten it up. The photo below is my most popular pin on Pinterest.
Tall Basket
I like how Kelly from Bungalow Blue places a tall handled basket in front of her textured fireplace. See how it lightens the black box?
Twinkle Lights On Wood
Courtney from French Country Cottage simply placed strings of twinkle lights on wood.
Battery Operated Candles
This is what I think our son should do. These battery-operated flicker candles are on timers. They aren’t cheap but look more real and last a long time. I put the basket in there for more texture.
If you light a real candle nearby…they seem even more authentic. I want to do this for our next party–when we can have them!
And those are Five Ways To Lighten Your Fireplace For Summer!
Hope you are doing well and staying healthy!

Great ideas! I have a problem though – my vases, candles, books, statues, etc., etc., etc. are screaming at me to leave them alone as in screaming at me that they’ve been moved a million times since the beginning of Covid 19! They are absolutely right. I’m searching for order in my life – don’t have it in the world outside my home so irregardless of their bitching and whining they will relocate whenever the spirit moves me!!! Thanks for coming up with new places to move them!
HA! So funny Judie. Spending so much time at home, I’ve been looking around for things to change too.
Mary Ann,
What pretty ideas. The rental we’re in, while super nice, doesn’t have a fireplace. That’s the only thing I miss. I loved winter evenings with a fire in the grate. I could even be happy with a nonworking fireplace.
Thanks for always sharing such pretty ideas.

Karen
The faux candles look so real you nearly gave me a heart attack, sitting them in a wicker basket like that! LOL! I must look into them. I love candles but have nosy cats who never pay attention to where their tails are & whenever I have real candles burning I’m constantly on edge waiting for a cat to jump up & knock them over & set the house or themselves alight. These are all great ideas!
What great ideas I never manage to do anything to my fireplace except close the doors for summer, maybe I need to up my game! I love Kelly’s fireplace, it is so charming!
Yes, and Kelly’s is easy to do!
BEAUTIFUL……………I wonder if BANKSY would like the VIEW of the FAUX CANDLES!!!
HE sleeps in front of the fireplace!I shall try that as I have two of those candles already!
WHAT FUN FOR YOU AND ALL THOSE LIKES ON YOUR DECOR PHOTO!
I MUST GO PEEK AT PINTEREST I never went FULL THROTTLE THERE…………missing OUT!
