Hello, everyone! We are heading back to SF today after a nice vacation with family in southern California. I feel lucky that they are within driving distance (although several hours) and all healthy (we got virus tests before gathering). We started in L.A., then Lake Arrowhead, San Diego, and Laguna Beach. All fun spots in SoCal!
I’ve got some great tips for you for my five fave finds this week including the cool cabin that we stayed in, my weekend mountain attire, a watermelon salad, my sister’s healthy hair product that’s inexpensive, and more!
You guys took my advice about Liana’s designer pillows in my last post as she sold out the same day! If you like these posts, please leave a comment–also with any tips of your own!
1. Lake Arrowhead Cabin
I recommend this large Airbnb home, Fallen Timber Cabin. We could spread out, cook, work virtually, play pool, and board games(there are two game/family rooms in addition to what you see here) and sit on the deck. We would like to go back (it’s dog friendly too).
2. What I Wore In the Mountains
I don’t look so great in shorts (large derriere — although I wore them hiking)…I prefer skirts.
Bandanas (lots of colors–two shown here) • Madewell T-shirts (lots of colors) I’m wearing the navy. They fit a little looser, which I like. • White linen blend shirt • Striped Tee • Skinny jeans • Long Denim Skirt • Stretch bracelets from Target 1, 2 • Short snap front skirt • White Addidas comfortable.

3. Watermelon Jicama Salad
We had fajitas one night and I made this salad (doubled the recipe).
Food Network Courtesy of Bobby Flay
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice, plus 1 teaspoon zest
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice, plus 1 teaspoon zest
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Kosher salt
- 1 jicama, cut into matchstick pieces
- 4 cups watermelon in 2-inch chunks
- 1/3 cup roughly torn fresh mint leaves
Whisk together juices, honey, pepper, and salt in a large bowl. Add the jicama, watermelon, and mint and toss to coat.
4. My Sister’s Fav Inexpensive Hair Conditioner
Doesn’t my sister, Teresa’s hair look great? I asked her what she uses. She got my dad’s thick silver hair.
She uses Trader Joe’s Hair Mask. It’s only $3.99 (available on Amazon if you aren’t near a Trader Joe’s).
5. Modern Pot For House Plants
Teresa bought this cool, well-priced plant also at Trader Joe’s. I need to check out my TJ’s for plants! She placed it in this pot from Amazon.
Those are my Favorite Finds including a fun mountain cabin, watermelon jicama salad, Healthy Hair Product, and Weekend Attire.
Let’s check out my friends, Cindy’s, and Annie’s favorites this week.
