Good morning! It’s fun having our son Tommy here. The smoke is gone and the weather is gorgeous.
Yesterday, I made healthy blueberry muffins while Howard and Tommy watched sports on television. Happy fellas. How about your family? Glad to have some sports?
We have been doing the Pilates Strong Challenge that Annie mentioned in her five faves last week. It’s great for beginners. We’ve also been getting lots of walks in with Chief.
I haven’t done any Fall decorating…but it’s on my mind as you will see. Here are my five fab finds this week. Be sure to see what Cindy and Annie recommend at the end of the post!
Healthy Blueberry Muffins, Beautiful Décor, and More
1. Healthy Blueberry Muffins
I used this recipe by Cookie and Kate.
They are loaded with blueberries and it uses honey and coconut oil. They are pretty darn good considering they are “healthy.” I’m sure I will make them again.

2. Summer To Fall Décor
Do you ever shop at Lulu and Georgia? They are a great source of inspiration. Look at their simple changes.
3. Good Book For Understanding Racial Injustice
Although the true story, “Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption” by Bryan Stevenson has been out for five years, it’s very timely with what is going on in our country now and I just read it.
“Just Mercy is at once an unforgettable account of an idealistic, gifted young lawyer’s coming of age, a moving window into the lives of those he has defended, and an inspiring argument for compassion in the pursuit of true justice.”
It was made into a movie and I want to see it on HBO.
4. Interior Designer Marie Flanigan
Talented interior designer Marie Flanigan is so hot right now! I love her taste. She has a collaboration with Visual Comfort/Circa Lighting and she just released a new book.
Check out Marie Flanigan’s designs for Circa Lighting such as this beautiful sconce.
Love this pendant, too. Comes in two versions.
Marie says “Shaped from organic elements and infused with a modern sensibility, these lights are inspiring in their ability to enhance the beauty of the home.”
Marie Flanigan’s book: “The Beauty of Home.” This is on my wish list!
5. My New Favorite Kicks
I love my perforated leather slip-on Vans…and now these mini leopards are my new favorites. Comfortable and not too expensive.

Hi Mary Ann! Love the Vans and wondering if the trim is black or a dark brown?
Mary Ann Pickett says
I wondered that too…it’s either black or such a dark brown that you think it’s black.

How did I not know about Marie Flanigan?! I do now and her book in on its way. The sconce is beautiful, but I can’t get over that amazing backsplash. Wow. I may have to whip up a tray of blueberry muffins and contemplate doing some pilates. Ha! Seriously, I need something like this as we’re on the countdown to a January wedding. xo
Mary Ann Pickett says
It’s good to have a goal like that!

What a fun post Mary Ann, I love that sconce in the kitchen. I’m trying to find one for our kitchen remodel next spring, so I pinned that picture. Her style is warm and elegant. Those leopard Vans are so darn cute especially on you, I don’t know why I don’t wear Vans, I usually wear flats with some support or ankle boots with jeans. I’m barely 5’2 so I need all the help i can get with height. 🙂
xo

Great post Mary Ann! The muffins sound really good, I will have to give them a try. I ordered Marie Flanigan’s book from the library a few days ago. I love her style too. :o)

Hi Mary Ann,
I love Sunday’s because there is always several interesting “favs” from you 3 talented ladies. It was fun perusing Marie Flannigan’s site. What talent. I’ve never tested a bad recipe from Cookie and Kate. The blueberry muffins look delicious.
Have a great upcoming week.

What a great roundup this week! I did not realize Marie Flanagan had a new book coming out. Wish I could wear vans love the way they look but not comfy on me!

Mary Ann: Your suggestion for the book “Just Mercy” is so timely. I think if we read, listen and learn, we will better understand black culture and each other. I found a wonderful panel discussion, Bret Weinstein’s Black Intellectual Roundtable of intellectually talented black educators and writers that I can’t stop thinking about. See what you think. It’s terrific.

Loved your post! I read Just Mercy when it first came out. Saw the movie last year. Enjoyed the movie but book went in to more depth and I was so glad I had read it before seeing the movie. Important book; especially now
Thank you for suggesting itðŸ¤
Mary Ann Pickett says
Oh good…I tried to finish the book before we watch the movie.

Thanks for the tip about the leopard sneaks. Fashion and function! I love it!

Thanks, Janet!

Hi Mary Ann, yesterday was magical hearing the football in the background and my husband all relaxed and happy watching the games. Such a wonderful sound! Highly recommend the RBG documentary too and i found a series on Sundance called The Resturant which has me hooked. Love your Van shoes! Going to watch the film you recommended. All the best!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Thanks for the tips, Francesca! Good to know.

I looked at The Circa website After going to the Circa store in an attempt to narrow my choices for bathroom sconces in my upcoming remodel. I came across one of your photos for the Ginger sconce. It’s still on my list of possibilities.
I enjoy your Sunday five each week and your happy attitude.
Mary Ann Pickett says
It’s a good one!! Thanks for commenting, Melinda.

Hi Mary Ann! I look forward to your Sunday emails all week, they’re a great escape while I’m eating breakfast on Sunday.
I love the leopard Vans, do you find them true to size? I have usually gone for Tom’s shoes, so haven’t ventured out to try Vans yet. These might change that!
Thank you
Mary Ann Pickett says
Thanks, Amy. I wear a seven normally (sometimes a 7.5 in pointy shoes–which I am not wearing much these days) and the Vans fit in a 7. The leather Vans have some stretch but these are cloth…I will wear little socklets with them in the future.
