How often are you fortunate enough to have dinner at someone’s home in Paris?
Our daughter’s good friends graciously invited us to their
elegant apartment in the 16th arrondissement.
The exterior
The interior courtyard
It’s difficult not to appear rude while snapping away photos for your blog…
OK, I might not ever be invited back, but…
John, above in the foreground, served us a Champagne aperitif, while his wife, Sue (can you see her hiding in the gilded mirror below?) prepared a delicious dinner.
Their home is filled with beautiful, French antiques.
Notice the Baccarat chandelier with white and red crystals.
According to their daughter, Jane, this was once a gas fixture.
Charming powder room.
Large formal dining room.
Our son surrounded by the mademoiselles: his aunt and sister and friends.
The dinner menu included a spinach salad, salmon en croute with tarragon sauce,
a cheese course and an apple tart with creme fraiche….AMAZING!
The kitchen window view.
Merci, Sue, John and Jane
for an unforgettable evening!
Best Wishes,
Mary Ann

I am green as I read this and so happy for you to have that experience. Their home is just lovely. The gilded mirrors everywhere are gorgeous and I love the way they mixed the mirror with the very simple frames in the powder room. No one does it like the French. Thank you for sharing this and thanks to them for allowing it. Have a great time!

I have to laugh about being invited back and blogging. Most of my friends seem to feel honored when I ask to take photos of their home and event. They feel just a little bit 'famous'.

Exactly how I imagined a Parisian apartment to be. It has an understated elegance. The plaster crown molding and dining room paneled molding are making me weak in the knees. Sounds like an amazing experience!

Stunning!!!! The floors , I mean seriously does it get any better than old herringbone wood floors in Paris? No . I even loved the pink TP in powder room:)))
One word: ELEGANTISSIME; probably not a real word, but you get the meaning. What a great home. Very Parisian, very chic yet luxuriously unpretentious.
