Cindy Hattersley may not be my oldest friend but she is definitely one of my dearests! We followed each other blogs before meeting about six years ago when I moved from Southern California to San Francisco. As an accomplished designer, Cindy offered to show me around the SF Design Center.
After a lot of laughs, shared whining/wine-ing, mutual advising about the technical aspects of social media, and personal encouragement… we became best buds!
Also, I should mention Cindy’s great fashion-sense (don’t you love her necklace?). She has quite the following for her Over 50 Fashion insights!
Cindy Hattersley’s Background
You know how everyone says the nicest people are from the Midwest. Cindy proves it. She is from a little town in Indiana. Cindy met her husband Steve in high school there. They started dating in college at Purdue University. It’s been a lifelong love affair with mutual interests in antiques, gardening, wine collecting… and now their little granddaughter, Summer.
Cindy and Steve reside on a gorgeous ranch (above)in the central farming part of California near Monterey. This is the area that provides America with a lot of their delicious fresh produce, I am proud to say!
Cindy’s Signature “The Collected Look”
Cindy incorporates pieces with meaning and age. She uses fresh fabrics and comfortable furnishings for The Collected Look. Clutter is at a minimum. Take a look…
The Family Room
This is their family room that they still call the “game room” as it used to have a pool table in here.
I’ve sat in this spot below with either a glass of wine or coffee, depending on the time of day 🙂
The vintage shutters hide their television…brilliant.
The Laundry Room
The Guest Room and Nursery
Master Bedroom
The Verdant Garden
Cindy and Steve’s gardening knowledge and hard work have really paid off! I want to come to visit again!
The Pool
Beau is the best dog! He and Chief are pals.
You can see more of her home over at Annie’s place since Cindy gave us entirely different areas to share. Cindy’s home is like a vacation resort, isn’t it? And speaking of vacations…At the moment, we are in Paris. You can see what’s up on my Instagram…especially on my stories. Au revoir!
Mary Ann,
This was great. I love Cindy’s style and I had never seen the guest room or laundry room you shared. Such a lovely home.

Looks like Provence! Beautiful!
You and Cindy are two of a kind. Smart, talented in so many ways and truly beautiful, inside and out. Your friendship was meant to be. With your individual styles, both of which I adore, your blogs are two of my favorites! I could sit here and go over each photo of her gorgeous house for hours, dreaming of living there surrounded by that amazing countryside. It indeed looks like it could be in France.
Have a wonderful time in France and thank you to your father and for all those who gave their lives for their admirable service to our country.
Oh, her house and her own look is just so warm and inviting. love the whole look. You know you’d be so comfortable in her home. Cindy is just such a warm and inviting person herself. I love that photo of the two of you. I love Cind’s slightly rumbled look. you know you’d want to be best friends with her. How she does it all is amazing to me. Wife, mother, grandmother.desginer, gardener and blogger, she does it all with warmth and style!
Hello from West Lafayette!
Hi Kristin!
Welcome fellow Hoosier!!
I think your friendship is one of the great good news stories of blog world. Your home is lovely, warm and inviting. Not at all surprising. Would love to see Beau and Chief giving the tour! What fun.
Her home looks like it could be down the street from me here in the south of France–the stucco, the shutters, the tiled patio. Classic.
I am most impressed with the laundry room, which must be the classiest one I’ve ever seen. Is the first photo, with the tall door, a hidden ironing board? If so, hats off.
The wood ceilings are so warm and inviting. The furnishings are welcoming and the colors are calm. Lovely combo.
I am not at all surprised her place is so lovely–she shows great taste over and over on her blog.
I love that picture of the two of us. I think I need to cut my hair! The intro of this post made me tear up. I feel so lucky to have you as a friend. I don’t know what I would do without you! Thank you for the lovely post and kind words. It means the world to me and so do you!
