Here’s Christmas decorating for a cozy home that our whole family enjoys. Let me give you a home tour of what we have done so far this holiday season.
My friends and bloggers, Annie, Cindy and Noelani are also sharing their Christmas home tours, too, with links at the end of the post.
Christmas Living Room
To keep it simple, with a serene natural feel, on the mantel I used a mixture of faux with real pine cones and magnolia branches (that I foraged behind the local Target).
The tree is a King Of Christmas 9′ faux king noble tree (on sale now). I like how the branches are spaced so the you can see the ornaments of gold, green and silver.

That well-priced Quince cashmere throw blanket on the sofa adds some comfort on a chilly night.
Sometimes I use green floral wire to attach the real magnolia branches to the faux cypress pine from Target (this is two 6′ garlands). But since I will probably replace/refresh the magnolia leaves again before Christmas, I simply tucked them in.

Command Strip hooks were used on top of the fireplace mantel to attach the garland. The softly scented Hearth and Hand candles on the mantel are real and the candles in the tall hurricanes are battery operated on a timer.

The Kitchen’s Simple Decor
We put this mixed faux garland on the stove hood that has a timer and is battery operated. On the kitchen island, the rosemary topiary adds some fresh greenery and the candle is spice scented.

Cozy Christmas Decor In The Dining Room
We will be setting the table for lots of dinners here.

The uplighting on the trees gives a cozy vibe. The centerpiece is made of live white poinsettias in a soup tureen.

Christmas Decorating on The Stairs
The velvet ribbons and stars simply embellish the King of Christmas pre-lit faux garland.

The Powder Room
The little shell Christmas tree is from Home Goods last year.

The Cozy Guest Rooms
We have a small lit faux Christmas tree in our blue guest room. In the bedroom decorated in neutrals there is a cute little Santa.

I bet you can guess my favorite holiday moment! Oh the touches of simplicity in your kitchen. I can smell the rosemary and spice. And I imagine the reflective tile at the range shimmering when the lights are low. I am still tweaking my own kitchen – I hope to get the balance right and not have to reinvent each year…isn’t that the beauty of keeping it classic? xox
Thank you, Mary Ann! Festive, cozy and unfussy – love that! I feel inspired, as always, reading your posts.
Such a nice comment, Deanne! Merry Christmas.
Your home looks so lovely. Always enjoy your decorating. The brass floor lamp in your living room caught my eye. Do you have the source?
The one with the shade (Serena and Lily) or hook arm (Lumens)?
Hook arm – Lumens. Thank you Merry Christmas
Same to you. If you can’t find it I will research. We love it but it is not that bright.
Mary Ann! Your house looks so beautiful at Christmas! Love your white poinsettias on the dining room table! And Louisa’s stocking! You must be so excited for everyone to arrive for the holidays!
Xx
Mary Ann,
Your house looks cozy, comfortable and beautiful.
I know just the Target you are talking about. Foraged greens are always a great idea.
Have a wonderful weekend, off to check out the other houses!
Your home looks beautiful! I am seriously behind on decorating. The faux garlands are great, I have a Pottery Barn one I actually scored at a great price on eBay a few years ago during the Summer. The fresh ones dry out too fast. Cute tree from Home Goods…once in awhile they do have something good on the shelf! So many times I leave there only to have bought snacks. 😂
Beautiful! Love how serene your house looks. Q: are your kitchen cabinets off white or true white? We have off white cabinets, and I’m looking to freshen up our kitchen paint color. I’m worried about going too white on the walls such that my cabinets look yellow. Suggestions?
The cabinets are off-white BM China White (there is a bit of gray in it). The walls are BM Simply White.
Thank you! I’ll keep that one in my arsenal for swatching!
Love every corner!
Could you please share a source for your fireplace grate and the star garland on the banister?
Thanks!
Oh thanks so much…but we got the fireplace grate at an sntique shop in Provence and the star garland I just got at Homegoods.
Very pretty as always. I love your use of rosemary at Christmas and your dining room lighting.
Thanks so much. That topiary is not looking too good today…I may have over watered it. :/
I love seeing your Christmas decor from your SF home in your new home. I wish I were stopping by for a glass of wine so I could enjoy every element! Hopefully this winter!
I wish you were here too, Cindy.
Mary Ann,
Your home could not be more beautiful and your holiday decorations are perfection. Wishing you and your family a Christmas filled with lots of love and laughter and most of all togetherness and peace!
Hugs
You are so kind, Gail. Wishing the same for you and your family!
Dear Mary Ann,
Your Christmas home is serenely welcoming. I see Louisa’s stocking so assume she will be lighting up every room with her sweetness.
The happiest of holidays,
Diney on Mercer Island
Yes, Louisa is coming! Merry Christmas, Diney!
Love your tree! Every year it seems that I put a little bit less decorations from the last year – I like it. Your home looks great.
Thanks so much!!
Gorgeous Mary Ann! The details are beautiful, everything from the blanket over the sofa for a warm inviting feel to the topiary in the kitchen. Festive and warm, gorgeous holiday home!
Everything is cozy, elegant and beautiful.
Hi Cindy,
I love reading this with my morning coffee. I was wondering how long the magnolia leaves will last on the mantle before wilting? I’d love to do this, but only if it will last until Christmas.
Thank you, Linda
I think the magnolia leaves should last about 10 days and then I will replace them.
Love the foraged magnolia leaves in your garlands. They give the seasonal items a southern twist.
Yes, Amy!
