Christmas Decor In Our New Hometown And More Decor Around The USA

December 8, 2022 By Mary Ann Pickett 19 Comments

Hello! This is our first time doing this: Christmas Decor In Our Hometowns! We have friends showing us their hometowns all over California, and the New York area. And I’m featuring Florida, specifically, The Beaches of Jacksonville.

Where Are “The Beaches Of Jacksonville”

“Jacksonville is a city located on the Atlantic coast of northeast Florida, the most populous city proper in the state and is the largest city by area in the contiguous United States.”

So, it’s really spread out. Our part of town feels more laid back.

We live at “The Beaches” where you see the arrow.

Embracing The Beach Life

We still have Christmas trees to decorate in our homes and often you will see live palm trees and even lifeguard stands decked out.

So it is not exactly your traditional Christmas decor.

Deck The Chairs

This free event “Jacksonville Beach Deck The Chairs promotes the arts and fosters community pride through a public art display featuring lighted iconic lifeguard chairs.”

Deck the Chairs decorated

I went by during the day but plan to go at night when our family is here. There are about 30 chairs decorated by different local organizations.

Downtown Atlantic Beach

All the palm trees lining the main streets of our little downtown are decorated with an array of bright lights. We are driving our golf cart. Can you see that I put a wreath on the front?

MaryAnn, so nice to see my old home town decorated for the holidays. We lived there for 6 years and although I loved the beach I missed 4 seasons.

Greetings, Mary Ann) I was very interested to see your photos of how Christmas is celebrated in the South of America. After all, I live in cold Russia, we have a lot of snow and a hard frost right now. Regards, Oksana.

MA … there’s noting like Christmas in a beach town! I love all the brightly decorated palm trees and fun, laidback holiday decor. But, you had me at golf cart. Jim’s goal in life is to live where a golf cart is his primary means of transportation. I hope you have the best Christmas ever in your new hometown. xo

It’s so much fun to see how different communities decorate at Christmas. It was good to see a map of where you live, looks like a pretty area. A big change from San Francisco. You have lived in so many different cities and even out of the country it’s probably fairly easy for you to adjust. The weather is a big adjustment and the type of clothes you now need.
The Peace written in the sand is a perfect message to share. We need more Peace and Love always.

How fun and so different from “the City”. Your neighborhood looks charming- in one post you showed a picture of your street, all lined with trees which you mentioned help keeps the temp cooler. Happy holidays in your new home which you have settled into quickly, it seems.

Our home is in the midst of improvements like a pool and landscaping…so we didn’t do too much decorating on the outside for Christmas this year, Wren.

Mary Ann, Your new town looks like a blast. How fun you can drive a golf cart around and love the wreath. How pretty those homes look with the palm trees all decked out. Thanks for the map. I had no idea how Jacksonville and Atlantic beach are connected! I need to get there one day. It’s so cute to see a Florida Xmas!

    Mary Ann,
Your new hometown looks lovely and filled with fun places on that street you showed us.
I enjoyed seeing Santa holding his surfboard and wearing sunglasses. So clever.
    Enjoy your Christmas.

Atlantic Beach looks like so much fun at Christmas. Who decorates those palm trees? Yikes! I am sure some company has a lucrative business doing that. We used to decorate the bottom of ours until they got too tall. Those lifeguard stands decked out…what fun! And what could be better than enjoying it all via golf cart. You certainly moved to a fun place

True…I called a company and it was a $2000 minimum. I will need to ask around earlier next year. But most of our palm trees are in the back.
