Every few months, I pop into Crate and Barrel to see what’s new for clients. It’s a good place to find accessories to up your home’s style. Sometimes, I get enticed to purchase something for us whether it’s something we need like cereal bowls or a splurge like a candle. Here are some casually modern things making me smile right now.
Up Your Home’s Style
A Bowl As A Centerpiece
This $20 Japanese flower style bowl sparks joy on my table and encourages me to eat fruit as a snack.
Faux Fern
These fern branches on my client’s new mantel bring in color. I have them on my mantel, too.
Leanne Ford Candle
I saw on EDB Design’s Instagram that Elizabeth had a cool Leanne Ford candle from Crate and Barrel on her coffee table.
So when the girls were here for the Design Influencers Conference…we took a break and headed over to Crate and Barrel to check out the Leanne Ford new collection. Love the hand-made “sculptural look” of the ceramics and her textured baskets.
Some other things that caught my eye…
Small Metal Shelves
These metal shelves would look great above a toilet!
Rustic Wooden Mirror
I can’t stop thinking about how cool this mirror is…
Lava and Stone Bookends
These bookends would make a great gift…
Wire Candle Holders As Utensil Holders
Kim bought these while we were there and look how she is using them…
in her new kitchen.
Kim wrote more about her Crate and Barrel favorites here.
Square Versatile Dinner Bowls
Speaking of favorites, Howard and I bought these square bowls recently and we use them all the time! I have oatmeal or yogurt and fruit for breakfast in them… and we use them for dinner salads and soup. I like how they are a little deeper and there is some portion control. $37 for a set of eight.
Back Home With My New Candle
And here’s the cool Leanne Ford candle. It will probably end up on the coffee table (there is one there now that’s almost used up). See anything you like to Up Your Home’s Style?
Have a wonderful week! Come back on Thursday for Project Design: Spring Fashion with some great real people fashion.

I loved everything you posted!! I do love Crate and Barrel this was one of the stores used for my wedding registry almost 26 years ago this May!!!! Marshall Fields was the other store!! I live in a suburb in Chicago so this was store was same quality (high end clothes, houseware bedding etc..) as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales etc…..
I especially like the metal shelves for the bathroom!! It would add a nice touch to our not so beautiful bathroom!!! You have awesome taste no wonder you are an interior designer!!⭐️⭐️ I am new to your blog thanks to Kay Harms From Dressed For Your Day!!! I love your blog!!!😊
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Sandra!! So nice to meet you. We lived in Chicago about 29 years ago…I loved Crate and Barrel then too.
Mary Ann,
I’ll be stopping in at Crate and Barrel to check out some of the finds. I love the candle. Thanks for always giving me great leads on things for home and fashion.
xo,
Karen
I love all of your finds from Crate and Barrel. I will have to check them out.
Thanks, Elizabeth.
KEPP TALKING AND SHARING………we all NEED A DISTRACTION!
I’m SO STRESSED TODAY!
READING BLOGS is a nice way to REMOVE MYSELF SO THANK YOU!

I know! I feel that way too.
Some great finds at Crate and Barrel to add an updated look to your room. I noticed that you’ve removed the jackets from your coffee table books, should I be removing the jackets from my books? Some books have the prettiest jackets!
No, Gail…I keep the book jackets on that are prettier. Just some times it seems more soothing without them.
Funny you should show those bookends holding American Heritage books — I was checking them out of my town library when I bumped into a boy I knew SLIGHTLY from elementary school. We went to different high schools and hadn’t seen each other in a few years, but this particular week, we found ourselves in the same spot at the same time, and the library was spot#3. I knew instantly that I would marry him, and he went home that night and told his mother that he had just met the girl for him. That was over fifty years ago. We now have two sons, five grandchildren, and no late library fees……all good. I wish all of your readers peace and love.
What a great story, Mosie!
