Have you thought of using branches for a cheap home accessory? Especially if you can grab some from your yard this time of year. I’ve been known to ask tree trimmers if I can take some off their hands. Lucky you if you have a magnolia tree or anything with blossoms. Really, any bush or tree branch can look cool and organic.
Branches As A Cheap Home Accessory
Tessa from Nine and Sixteen said of these branches: “Welcoming the unofficial start of summer with a dramatic arrangement of weeds.” Incidentally, many of these photos came from people I recommend you follow on Instagram.
A couple of simple twigs in a glass vase…
Sparse branches in a black jug balance the tree on the other side.
I’ve used those dark red leaves on the mantel before too. (Cut with approval from my clients–I carry clippers in my car).
I just used three branches in a narrow vase here.
This is a great look on the organic table with black accents.
These twigs are from the grocery store and I added a realistic faux fern spray in a vintage crock.
Lauren Liess is the queen of using branches. I’m looking forward to her book coming out in the Fall.

I got these from a landscaper trimming a tree.
I hope this gives you some ideas for using branches as a cheap home accessory. Hopefully, you can find some for free.
We are having really warm weather…well in the ’70s in San Francisco. Nice weather to get out and walk! How is it where you are?

I too have used branches and clippings from some of my shrubs in my home. It is an inexpensive way to create some beautiful arrangements. I use them as vase fillers if I don’t have enough flowers also. I love your photos!!

Such a great idea, Sherri!!

My local market now carries the pussy willows and curly willows which I add to my flower arrangements. When the flowers are spent, I transfer the branches to large vessels, and I love the look. Have a nice weekend, hopefully not too hot!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Yes, Cheryl, those are curly willows mixed with the fern branch. I love that idea.

I love magnolia clippings and use them often especially around Christmas.
It has been in the 90s with high humidity in Northwest Arkansas. We went from wearing jackets on Memorial Day to swimming in our pool 2 weeks later.

Wow, crazy weather, Bette!

I’ve never found blooming branches around the neighborhood during trimming, but I’ve gotten some great branches from trimming evergreens in the winter and spring.
I love using branches.
xo,
Karen

I pass gardeners all the time on my morning walks. I never thought of asking them for branches! Our neighbor across the street has a couple Magnolia trees. I will check with her to see if some day I can have some clippings, they are so pretty. We have a huge yard…most of the back is “rustic” lol only a few trees, some jade and rosemary bushes. I need to venture down there and see what I can cut. Too bad bougainvillea doesn’t do well cut because we have a very large bush outside our back door.

Love free botanicals where we can put our money into beautiful containers! Texture, nature, and sometimes a touch of bling. Almost-instant gratification…and such a mood enhancer.
Mary Ann Pickett says
I agree, Char!!
