Recently my friend, JoAnn and I attended a party at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase as guests of First Republic Bank. (Thanks, Andrew)! This magnificent turn of the century mansion was modeled after Marie Antoinette’s Petit Trianon. The original owners were from two prominent Jewish families who were part of the gold rush era merchant class in California. They must have been very successful!
As JoAnn and I walked through the recently redecorated rooms, it was fun to imagine what it was like over a hundred years ago to live in such opulent style!
The designers brought this French chateau theme to life. History repeats itself as some of the elements used here from the past are current trends for the future.
This is the colorful, layered room by Jonathan Rachman (pictured with me).

My photos just scratch the surface of this gorgeous mansion. Le Petit Trianon in San Francisco can be yours for a cool $30 million. OR you can visit it as we did 🙂 The San Francisco Decorator Showcase is open until May 27.
Have a glorious weekend and happy Mother’s Day to all you mom’s out there!!!
What is the fireplace surround stone? Very nice.
That MASTER BEDROOM had my name on it…..LOVE!

Yes…love the wallpapers, Loi.
I think you lead a very charmed and charming life and lucky for us you take us along…or at least your camera! I came to love interior design through the back door of fabric and have always admired the artistry and craftsmanship of draperies, details of trim, upholstered walls and painted ceilings. One of my favorite things in the remodel of of my kitchen, dining room/library is the painted ceiling. Practically it hides the fact that this room is on a slab, the rest of the house is on a basement foundation. Even with new dry wall, the crack returned. So now it is covered with pattern, quotes of poetry my husband and I have enjoyed, and to honor his poet grandmother who love the zodiac, we have those, too. It makes me smile. And for the naysayers about what about resell? One word: Kilz.
opulence reigns again! wow, how gorgeous, crazy for all those dramatic wallpapers
thanks for the trend alert, so fun

What a beautiful house and they really did a wonderful job bringing in today’s trends with a French flair. Always fun to see how the other half might live and maybe dream about living such an opulent lifestyle. (I’d rather live in your apartment though!)
I’m going to the Pasadena Showcase House next week, always fun to see.
Feel like I just went on a little mini vacation! Absolutely gorgeous and I love how you point out trends that can be translated into homes for non-royalty. lol Another fab post – thanks for sharing.
Beautiful. I love seeing all the trends you point out. The hand-painted stars are delightful and something that’s attainable on any budget. The amazing wallpaper is a different story–jaw-droppingly gorgeous, and I imagine the price tag also is jaw-dropping.
Happy to see bullion fringe and curtain tassles are back. Once again, what goes around comes around.
