We refreshed Mary’s Newport Beach living room with:
1. an updated, new chair,
2. wall to wall seagrass carpeting
and my favorite thing:
3. beautiful pillows!
Before
The green and rust pattern in this carpet was hard to work with but the sectional had to stay.
Before
Before
Mary agreed to install relatively inexpensive wall to wall seagrass carpeting and spring for some gorgeous new designer pillows made by Liana.
Now
This fabric, Kravet Couture Kaveka in Indigo, has some green that is in the sectional and on her walls, and let us freshen up by incorporating some indigo.
The Kaveka is a rich linen and the border gave us something fun to play with on a lumbar pillow.
We also used Peter Dunham Taj in Indigo and Green for a large scale pattern and a small scale pattern, Kerry Joyce Petite Fleur.
Thank you, Liana, for taking the photos since I couldn’t be there!
This is the Mila chair in sand linen that I spotted on sale from Pottery Barn. I can’t find it on the website now. Seems you have to grab these deals when you see them! I was glad Mary pulled the trigger as it was less expensive than recovering her old chair. She found the stone side table at Home Goods.
Here is a dish I created that only uses one pan (easy clean-up).
- Three boneless skinless chicken breasts cut in half
- 1/4 cup flour
- One half jar drained, halved artichokes (about 8 pieces)
- 1/4 cup pitted Greek olives
- four on the vine tomatoes, quartered
- one small lemon sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped Italian parsley
- sea salt and pepper
Lightly coat the chicken pieces in flour and shake off. Sauté in about three tablespoons of olive oil on medium high heat for about three minutes on each side. After 6-9 minutes, lower heat to medium…toss in all the ingredients and cook covered three more minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. The lemons will have softened and I like to squeeze them on everything before serving (with a slice or two on the plate). You could serve with warm pita or French bread if you like.
I flew back from San Diego on Wednesday and now I have a bad cold! Anyone else sick this time of year?
Take care!

The new look is so pretty. I am sorry you have a cold. I hope you feel better soon. Will try the chicken recipe. Looks tender and moist. Yummy!

I don’t have a cold, Kathy, fortunately!
