Things To Do in NYC If You Like Design (and my birthday)

Sorry if you got an email with a bad link.  I’m sending this out again.

Last week, the weather was beautiful when Howard and I went to Cafe Clover in the West Village (designed by Steven Gambrel) for lunch.  Liana had suggested it and she has good ideas.
Very cool lighting and mercury glass mirrors.
The pendants are like this and sconces remind me of these from Pottery Barn.
The food was good, too.
I always like to stop by ABC Carpet and Home to see what’s trendy…still crystals of course.

This Fortuny-like bedding is so beautiful.

And the John Robshaw bed linens are always fun.

They were also showing a lot of organic materials like these twigs painted white.

On my actual birthday (Howard was working), I took the train visit my cousin, Patricia, in Summit, NJ.  We did a one day makeover of her living room (it was very “cardio” as we quickly worked moving furniture and re-hanging art and styling the book cases, etc).  She won’t let me show photos until after she gets the walls painted.  Then we cleaned up and she and her husband took me to a great Italian dinner.  Spoiled.  Happy.
Got this Happy Birthday text from these two cool dudes in SF.
The hotel manager left this in our room (thanks Debbie and Mike)!
We took the subway downtown.  Isn’t this a beautiful mosaic in the Delancey Street station?
Dinner at Gotham Bar and Grill was great. Yes, I know this is a lot of eating… but we walked A LOT, too.

The next day, Howard wanted to stop at Eataly…one of his favorite places…and an inspiring place for cooks (and people who just like to eat).

Check out the new Baccarat Hotel.  It’s a really hip mix of French, over-the-top elegance (all that crystal) and rusticity.  Look at the painted wood floor and horizontal planked walls.
I’m getting some crystal and wood inspiration for Christmas décor.  That’s what I like about travel!  Helps the creative juices.

More twigs as art…like at ABC Carpet and Home.  I’m not crazy about this but I sort of get it.
I accidentally took this photo of the floor (I was trying to be cool) but I love it.  Reminds me of our herringbone floors when we lived in Paris.

And then we came home in time to see the Blue Angels Air show from our dining room window!

Still celebrating….Today, I received this little package from Annie of Most Lovely Things.  I use little notebooks all the time and these are so stylish.  Annie made the clever gift tag.

My friend, Gail, who helped save Chief’s life sent this cute card.
And my sister’s cards always make me laugh out loud!

So happy you are here and celebrating my birthday with me!!!  I appreciate it.
Now, I will give it a rest until next October 🙂
