My daughter, Alexandra asked for help with her toddlers while her husband is away on business. So I said sure! In between babysitting, we did a little decorating and I went window shopping at the upscale mall in Century City.
So, the way the Sunday Faves with Annie and Cindy usually works is it’s the latest good things on my radar…this time from L.A. And it’s a quick one since Leo and Louisa have kept me on my toes.

My Loves! That is the same fiddle leaf fig tree that we had in our apartment in San Francisco. So it must be about 15 years old!
Console Styling And Hiding The TV Cords
Alexandra got a deal on this media console at a neighborhood garage sale. We wanted to style it to hide the television cord from the Frame television. Here are the before and afters…

And I styled the coffee table too (unrealistically since we will remove the flowers with toddlers around 🙂 Alexandra bought the pretty bone and wood remote boxes at Home Goods here in L.A. and I bought similar ones at my Home Goods in Jacksonville (for my son’s home). Point is…check out your Home Goods!

What To Cook – Simple Grilled Asian Flavored Pork Chops
Howard arrived with Chief yesterday and he got to work cooking. He grilled pork chops marinaded for one hour in Trader Joe’s Soyaki Sauce. After he took them off the grill, he covered them in aluminum foil to rest for about 10 minutes.
He served the pork chops with a big green salad and baked sweet potatoes.

I garnished them with some rosemary from their garden.
Quince Finds I’m Loving
This Vintage European Linen Bed Cover is used as a layer over the sofa seats to protect it. It washes beautifully and I just tucked it back on. Really saves a white couch.

This dining chair in performance fabric has made working at my desk much more comfortable. It’s my first Quince furniture piece and I like it. It’s on wheels that go back and forth (casters that go all the way around would be better but the price is right).

Wish List From Westfield Century City Mall
This mall in Century City (next to Beverly Hills) is upscale and fun to wander through. Here are some items that caught my eye…
The Gerard Darel brand is one of my favorites since visiting the store when we lived in Paris years ago.
What To Watch: Eleanor The Great On Netflix
I watched this by myself and enjoyed it. The funny, likable, lonely 94 year old Eleanor gets trapped in a lie that keeps growing.

We just watched Elanor the Great…..beautiful. Thanks for the recommendation!
I am going to try the pork chops too.
It was sweet!
I love seeing Alexandra, Louisa, and Leo… and their beautiful home! I love seeing all the details! And what a great idea to use a linen bed cover on the sofa. You must be so happy to be in LA!
xx
I recently purchased a very similar chair for my little home office – very similar color, casters, came fully assembled. I wouldn’t normally order furniture on line, but this looked nice,, and I can also use it as an extra dining room chair if necessary. You will never guess where I ordered it through – Home Depot. I got it out of the box on my front porch, and I somehow managed to get it upstairs by myself. It gives my little sitting room/office a new look,
Hi Mary Ann,
What a fabulous photograph of your daughter and grandchildren!! Louisa and Leo look so adorable! So lovely you get to visit…I like the Quince bedspread and will keep it in mind when it gets a little warmer. Just watched a wonderful film on Netflix to share, with stunning scenery and a terrific cast called Four Love Letters on Netflix and on Amazon. I needed a little break from all the Olympic coverage, much as I enjoy it all. Take care!
Thanks for the tv recommendation, Francesca!!
We have hung a few Frame TV’s in our home, as well. I have solved the cord dilemma by having my electrician run the cord on the inside of the wall and drilling another hole elsewhere to connect to the box. For example: Alexandra could have her electrician run the cord inside the wall until such point as it comes out somewhere behind the furniture. If possible the box could be placed inside her furniture if there is an opening in the back for the cord. If not, one could be made, if she is amenable. In a guest room, we actually had a small hole drilled into the dresser underneath the tv and threaded the electrical through that lower hole and into a drawer of the dresser. I have also drilled a hole through the wall of one room into another to place a box in back-to-back closets. I feel like I used a lot of words and made this confusing! But I dislike seeing the cords as much as anyone.
I know exactly what you mean, Catherine. We have ours mounted with the cords in the wall but for now they are trying to save money.
Hi Mary Ann,
I’m interested in how you styled the coffee table. I have a smallish, round coffee table and styling it has baffled me during all the years I’ve owned it. It’s a walnut mid-century design with glass in the middle. The walnut around the outside is about 3″. I just have no idea and would appreciate any direction you could offer!
Sheryl
Sheryl, what about using three elements like a plant, a candle and a small stack of books…really anything in threes would look balanced on a round table.
Louisa is a little fashionista like her mom
and her grandma.
On a side note, hubby and I will be visiting Mayo Clinic this week.. decided we’d stay over night and was wondering if you have a favorite Ocean front place that you would recommend? Preferably walking distance to Resturant’s and a little window shopping.
The hotel we like One Ocean is undergoing renovation to become The Dune House and that would be perfect when it opens for you as you can walk around Atlantic and Neptune Beach. But I think it’s going to be another month or so…you could call.
Thank you so much! I called and you are correct. It is under construction until June. I called the Merriott and one other place and they too are under construction. We’ll have to save it for another time.
Hi Mary Ann,
Hopefully the weather is warmer in LA than in Florida!! I love your office rug. Can you share where you got it?
Thank you!
Anne
