Quince’s Stainless Steel French Press

This is not on sale but it’s a good value at $30 and a good-looking design.

It’s been said that cold brew is less acidic on your stomach and it’ a convenient way to have coffee in a hurry. You can dilute it with more water if it’s too strong. Tommy made this at our house this past weekend.

Our Son Tommy’s Instructions For Cold Brew

Ingredients:

•    4 oz of coarsely ground coffee (depending on how strong you like your coffee)
    •    16-20 oz of filtered water (about 2 to 2.5 cups)
    •    Ice (optional)
    •    Milk or sweetener (optional)

Instructions:

    1.    Measure and grind the coffee
    •    Use coarsely ground coffee for cold brew to avoid a gritty texture.
    •    Measure out 3-5 oz of coffee grounds (adjust to your taste—3 oz will give a milder brew, while 5 oz will result in a stronger brew).
    2.    Add coffee grounds to the French press:
    •    Place the coarsely ground coffee in the bottom of your French press.
    3.    Add filtered water:
    •    Pour 16-20 oz of filtered water over the coffee grounds.
    •    Stir gently to ensure all the coffee grounds are fully saturated.
    4.    Cover and steep:
    •    Place the lid on the French press without plunging.
    •    Let the coffee steep at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 12-18 hours. The longer it steeps, the stronger the flavor.
    5.    Plunge and strain:
    •    After steeping, slowly press down the plunger to separate the coffee grounds from the cold brew concentrate.
    6.    Serve:
    •    Pour the cold brew over ice, and if desired, add milk or a sweetener.
    7.    Store the cold brew:
    •    If you have extra, store it in the fridge in a sealed container. Cold brew can stay fresh for up to a week.
