Looking forward to Spring? I am! For my five faves today with Cindy and Annie I’ve got the best neutrals to wear this Spring and Summer (hint: how does Salted Caramel sound?) along with a movie we loved, a simple and delicious crispy fried egg that our son-in-law makes, and more!
Just want to mention how horribly sad and infuriating it is to see what is going on in Ukraine. Imagine if we had to defend our country on our own land while wanting to protect the ones we love and our freedom. God bless Ukraine.
1. What to Watch At The Movies: “Dog”
Howard and I enjoyed going to the theater again finally last weekend. We both liked this movie. It’s not “all comedy” as it will pull at your heartstrings…especially if you like dogs.
2. Luca’s Crispy Fried Egg
Our son-in-law, Luca makes the best-fried eggs!

Directions: Heat a small pan to medium-high heat with a couple of tablespoons of olive oil. When it starts to smoke, add the egg. Let the olive oil crisp the edges and bottom of the egg. Sprinkle with herbed salt like my Sicilian Herb Salt (easy to make). Once the yolk hardens a bit, remove from heat and serve with a spatula.
I sometimes flip mine briefly for an “over-easy” effect.

3. A Great New Nail For Hanging Small Art
When I was at my sister’s new place to do a little decorating, I asked her to buy some art hanging supplies. She bought this at Target for $10. I love the nail tacks, so easy to use and stronger than tacks. I used most of them but there is one under the level below.

We hung this pretty Italian painted tile and the calendar clipboards in her office.

4. The Best Neutrals To Wear This Spring
According to Pop Sugar’s Six Biggest Color Trends For Spring 2022, “Salted Caramel” is in! Caramel and white always feel fresh.
I bought this white cotton Maeve for Anthropologie dress. It comes in Regular, Petite (I got the 8P), and Plus sizes. Love that it has pockets and a little cut-out in the back (but your bra is still covered). It’s a thicker material so you can’t see through it. This will be nice to take on our Italy trip planned for Spring.

Straw Hat • White Dress • Pale Pink Polish • Brick Red Lipstick • Tortoise Shell Bangles From Nordstrom Rack • Leather and Caned Tote • Slide Leather Sandals with Gold Detail (I want these) • Tortoise Shell Sunglasses
5. Spring Lipstick Shades
The first day of Spring is Sunday, March 20…but you can get a head start with a new lipstick! This is fun: Spring lipstick shades according to Cosmopolitan. The one above, Muted Brick Red is on their list.
If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up” phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.
Let’s see what Annie and Cindy’s Five Faves are this week:
Infuriating is a good work to describe the dreadful situation in Ukraine. In addition to disbelief that it can happen … and, of course, heartbreak. Sigh. On a lighter note, those nail tacks are fabulous and I love the clipboard calendar pages. Great idea and I’ve pinned it for home office inspiration. Love your spring neutral picks … that bag!!! Jim wishes I made eggs more so I’m saving your son-in-laws method and your salt combo. Dog is getting such great reviews. I’m a big wimp and can’t watch any animal movie. Not a one. Happy or sad. Sheesh. Praying that this week brings peace to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. xo
I know it’s just so terrible in Ukraine, Juliet. Dog has a happy ending…you can handle it.
I commend you for mentioning the absolute hell going on in Ukraine. God bless all these amazing, courageous Ukranian’s.
It’s so crazy…I am glad the world is uniting in support of Ukraine.
Hi Mary Ann, I think we all need a little bit of “fluff” right now amidst all the chaos in this world. It’s truly maddening. So your posts brighten my day and help keep me sane! The egg looks yummy…I put a fried egg on my avocado toast with sliced tomato and Sriracha. 😋 Got the idea from a (hilarious) video by actor Jeff Goldblum.
Linda
Wow…that avocado toast sounds amazing!
Mary Ann,
What fun this post is. I love the looks of the movie Dog. It should be fun and a heart-string puller. How exciting to have a trip planned for Italy. I look forward to hearing about your trip this year. Your sister’s place looks great.
Karen B.
Both Howard and I liked the movie, Karen.
Mary Ann! That dress is going to be perfect for Florida! You will look gorgeous as always!
Love that little picture hanging kit! You find the best stuff…like that lamp for your sister’s kitchen! And Luca’s egg with your Sicilian Sea Salt! I still keep a jar of that around always!
xx
I am going to get one of those kits for myself, Annie. My sister says you can buy more of the nail/tacks separately.
Great post! I also get up every morning praying that Ukraine is holding on. Keeping them in my intentions.
So am I!
So many fun things. Dog looks like a wonderful movie, thank you for the message about it as well.
I am going to make this fried egg for my husband, he loves them, I prefer scrambled.
As for the beautiful neutrals you picked, the sandals and the dress and the tote are my favorites. I am trying not to buy anything because I have so much stuff I do not wear. Have a wonderful Sunday! Off to check out Cindy and Annie.
Yes..you will like the movie, Elizabeth. I know what you mean about not buying anything! I want the sandals…buy just bought the dress.
HI Mary Ann
I love that color combination. It is so classic isn’t it? That dress will look darling on you! I wish I could wear shirtwaist dresses. I love the look but because of my long torso, they never work darn it! Great post this week, so much good information!!
It’s actually flattering, Cindy, and I am long waisted too! The waist just comes higher.
