Hello! Are you ready to start decorating with tasteful Fall home accessories like earthenware vases, dried flowers, scented candles, and textured table linens?
I know I am! Welcome to my Five Faves with Annie and Cindy. I also have for you our new rocking Adirondack chairs, why you should sing to your baby, a beautiful home in Birmingham, and more.
1. Tasteful Fall Home Accessories

large earthenware vase • wicker candle (fig and sandlewood) • travertine footed bowl (great to leave out every day on the dining table) • paper mache white pumpkins • dried wreath • linen napkins • placemat (I have these–good all year round) • blown glass hurricanes • faux wheat
2. Our New Polywood Modern Adirondack Rocking Chairs
We have been waiting for our new front door for four months and now the window and door company won’t even give us an ETA (they have our 50% deposit). #supplychainissues
So, this is a mini reveal of our front porch until I get the door, hanging lantern, and planters.

Howard says the Polywood chairs were easy to put together. I like their comfort and quality. It will be fun to rock our new grandbaby, Louisa out here when they come for Christmas.
3. The Effects Of Singing To Babies
Speaking of babies, this is an interesting article about “What Babies Hear When You Sing To Them.”

An excerpt: “…singing to children or pets, as opposed to just speaking, carries distinct benefits. Studies show that infants prefer a mother’s singing to speech, displaying greater alertness, happiness, or calm depending on the type of song. Babies also find a father’s singing highly engaging, especially if he uses a higher vocal pitch. This power of singing appears to be language-independent; infants will relax to a lullaby in any language, even if it’s not their native one.”
(That was my sneaky way of showing more granddaughter photos 🙂
4. Inside Caroline Gidiere’s Birmingham Home
I love Caroline’s use of color and pattern in a traditional manner. You can also see how plants and texture make things less formal.
5. Super Easy Way To Get Photo Copies
I like to use larger table top photo frames like these from Target, rather than lots of little ones.

It’s not hard to update things with recent photos from CVS. Order online (with photos from your computer or phone). They were ready for pickup in about an hour.
If you are new here, each Sunday I share my top five favorite things along with my friends, Cindy and Annie. It’s like our weekly “catch-up” phone call. If you would like to receive this series every week, please sign up HERE.
That’s it from my neck of the woods! Now I’m going to do a little shopping for tasteful Fall home accessories after I see what Annie and Cindy’s Five Faves are this week!
Louisa looking up at you is a precious picture, that will always be a treasure to keep for conversations
in the future. A “Joy Marker.”
Your Adirondack rocking chairs are fabulous. I hope your door comes before the holidays hit, how unfortunate and they can’t give you an ETA that’s too bad.
Baby Louisa is the sweetest. And her grandparents are clearly smitten! I’m going to start singing to Pippa, Maggie and Abby right now. I you see a ‘rescue me’ posting on NextDoor … you’ll know why! xo
Beautiful pictures of your little one. Love the chairs, and of course the fall decor (my favorite season).
Hi Mary Ann,
Louisa is adorable and I love the pictures. Howard looks so happy holding his first grandbaby. My husband was our second granddaughter’s favorite person. 😊
I always enjoy your tips for decor and such. Love the new rockers.

P.S. For some reason, your email notices that there’s a new post stopped coming. I’m looking into whether my computer is misbehaving.
Mary Ann, I love your new Polywood rockers. Perfect for rocking Louisa! I had no idea about signing to babies. That is incredibly sweet! Those photos are just precious!
xx
We are loving our new rocking chairs!
Hi Mary Ann,
I love seeing little Louisa, she’s adorable so share all you want! Interesting about the singing, although not all singing is equal…but I guess it’s the thought that counts!
Your new chairs are really nice. Can’t wait to see everything all pulled together. Waiting for the pieces to all come together is so hard!
Hope you have a great week. We finally have RAIN! All day so far and wonderful.
Xo
Heidi
Thanks, Heidi!! So good about the rain there!
More baby photos please. She’s adorable!! ❤️
Trying not to overdo it, Barb 🙂
Mary Ann, What a sweet pic of Louisa looking at you.. and so cute with you and Howard. So happy for you all! Pretty pieces here. I love those stripe napkins too! I might have to order those for fall. xo
I want those napkins too, Kim!
Hi Mary Ann,
We have been looking at the exact same Adirondack chairs online ~ my question is, are you able to lean your head back, or is the chair back too low for that?
Your grandbaby is adorable ~thank you for sharing the lovely photos of the three of you.
I don’t think you can really lean your head back in our version. There are some with taller backs…
