Sunday Faves Inspired By Fun With The Family

We’ve enjoyed having our kids and grandchildren here from California for an extended visit. This post covers some fun things like the scalloped sturdy step stool that we bought them for the bathroom, our bed linen refresh for winter, a special craft/activity my daughter and I did, an amazing pork chop recipe and more…

It’s Sunday Faves time with Annie and Cindy!

Cute Scalloped Sturdy Step Stool

Our grandchildren loved this sturdy step stool from Wayfair to brush their teeth and wash their hands.

It comes pre-assembled and is well-priced with free shipping. When the kids aren’t here, I will use it in our pantry.

French Flea Market Inspired Dyed Vintage Linens

I recently wrote about how to dye vintage table linens in this post. My daughter saw it and asked if we could dye more linens while she was here for Christmas. She had vintage stained and yellowed white linens from both of her grandmothers.

For clips, we decorated inexpensive wooden clothes pins with Japanese Washi tape (mine is discontinued from Anthropologie but they are available on here). Just place the tape on top and trim to fit.

We made sets of multi-colored linens to share using Rit Dye in burgundy, blue and green.

There are cocktail napkins, luncheon napkins and guest towels. Above is a sample. It’s fun that my mother’s and Howard’s mother’s cloths will have new life.

Interior Design Books

I mentioned here that I’d like to have the AD at Home book…and Cindy bought it for me as a gift!

Also, my daughter-in-law knows that I want to renovate our primary bathroom and she gave me The Ultimate Bath. I’ve been enjoying both books while the kids are napping. Incidentally, the velvet tree skirt is 40% off.

Bedding Refresh With My Favorite Crisp Linens

First thing every morning, my granddaughter would climb into my bed with a book from the scalloped box.

For winter, I’m enjoying our new Serena & Lily duvet cover and European shams. The cotton percale feels crisp and the sheets are my favorite.

Upholstered Ottoman By Four Hands on Sale

The ottoman/coffee table is good quality.

It would be nice in a family room too and it’s a good deal right now with free shipping. It’s upholstered in a two-toned linen. You can shop our bedroom here.

Our friends, Mike and Debbie made this for dinner when we visited them a few weeks ago. It was so delicious! Here is the recipe (hint for Howard).

  1. Mary Ann…the vintage napkins are so charming. I love the pink (burgundy?). I cannot find Rit dye in a color called “burgundy”. Did you mix two colors to achieve that beautiful color? I want to try this with some of my recent vintage linen finds. Thank you! BTW…I am a big fan of your blog. I look forward to receiving the Sunday faves in my email each week!
