I’ve got packing on the brain! We leave for our summer trip to Europe soon. A small group of us will be going for a few city side trips. Then, we join the large group friends in Mykonos where we have rented two houses with a cook.
I’m excited! The only place I have been to before on the itinerary is Paris. So, some new adventures. The weather temperature highs should be in the low 70’s in Paris and Prague and the high 70’s in Greece.
I’m hoping to pack as lightly as I can and cover city and beach attire. Here’s what I’m planning for my Summer Travel Wardrobe Mix and Match Outfits.
Paris
Packable Straw Hat • Sunglasses • Red Cotton Dress (on sale) • Wicker Bangles • White Denim Jacket • Gentle Souls Espadrilles • Cross Body Bag I love crossbody bags when lots of walking is involved–even here in San Francisco! The bag can fit in the tote when traveling. • Houndstooth tote
Travel Days
Comfortable shoes for the airport and plane are a good idea.
Denim Jacket • Large Cotton and Silk Scarf This is nice for an extra layer and I can wear is later as pareo over my swimsuit. • Solid Gap T-shirts I love these. They are inexpensive and thicker. Plus, they come in tall, regular and petite (I get petite medium–looser but tailored). T-shirts are so easy to pack! • Black jeans • Blue Cotton Cardigan I have this in several colors. • Perforated sneaker • Houndstooth tote
Mykonos
Packable Straw Hat • White Cover-up I have one like this that I can wear as a tunic with a white camisole and jeans, too. • French Sun/Reading Glasses These Izipizi glasses are already packed in my tote so that I can read on the beach or by the pool. • Wicker Bangles • Red Bathing Suit I bought this hoping the round button will take the eye off my thighs. • Tan Sandal with back strap Great for walking on cobblestones. So comfortable. I tried them on…I want them. • Houndstooth tote
Prague
Packable Straw Hat • Pearl necklace • Tortoise Shell Glasses • Cross Body Bag This is a great size and value from Saks Off Fifth. I bought it.• Midi Pink and Blue Dress (flattering fit–I got it on sale). • Blue Cotton Cardigan • Tan Sandal with a back strap or • Perforated sneaker
Packing Check List
I’m going to be packing in a mid-sized bag. We thought about trying to pack in a carry-on but even those would have to be checked on the smaller European airplanes (Athens to Mykonos, etc) and we have a direct flight from SFO to Paris. I will bring my toiletries and one day’s worth of clothes in my tote. I could probably do a carry-on but this is less stressful and hopefully, I will have some room to bring back a souvenir or two. Have you ever had your luggage lost?
Packing three pairs of shoes will be hard! If I am being honest, I think I will wear my slip on Van’s and add a slim pair of flip flops to the three shoes listed. They say for every pair of pants, bring three tops. This does that. If this was a one week trip, I would cut back. We will probably be able to wash some things and line dry them in Mykonos.
Speaking of washing…Howard bought this machine washable linen blazer from the Banana Republic for me. I may substitute my white denim jacket for this on the trip. If it looks like rain before we leave, I will bring my jacket similar to this (it’s lightweight).

Do you have any vacation plans this summer? These “Summer Travel Wardrobe Mix and Match Outfits” will look cute at home, too 🙂 Any advice for what we should do in Athens, Mykonos (or surrounding islands) or Prague?
I enjoyed reading your packing list. We are heading to Greece, Italy and Dubai in September from Australia. This is my first trip to Europe. Working out what to pack is a bit of a challenge for me. I have all these lovely dresses and trying to not over pack. II mainly wear dresses, at the moment Im taking 4 casual dresses, 2 skirts, 2 evening dresses, 2 blouses 3/4 sleeves 3 tops short sleeves, (tops and blouses will match both skirts, plus I can wear a couple over my dresses to make another outfit) denim jacket, white jacket, black cardigan, sandal, sneakers, wedge dressy shoe and flip flops. We have 2 nights in Athens, 5 nights Santorini then 18 days in Italy from 9-26th September. I’m taking a medium suitcase with a tote bag to take on the long flight which is 23 hours from Australia. Do you think my packing list is ok.
This is so exciting!! Sounds like a perfect amount of clothes….you may want a scarf for an extra layer. I’ve only been to the Dubai airport. What will you wear on the plane?
We have lots in common. Hop over to my place to see my travel wardrobe.
Not so different from your’s.
xx’s
I will!
I was in Paris for two weeks lately and brought 3 pairs of shoes. I only wore my tennis shoes after the first day. We averaged 5.5 miles a day and that was after we took the subway or a cab to our destination. I wish I wouldn’t have brought so many, would have had more room for souvenirs. One thing I did pack was a backpack that zips into a pouch. I was able to keep it in my small crossbody purse and then if I bought something while we were out, I had it with me. Then my friend’s husband carried it onto the plane for me, so I was able to bring home more things for my children.
I do the same thing with a lightweight pouch! Sounds like a great trip, Mary!
We’re going to England then to Prague for a month this summer. My husband is from Prague and I been twice. Visit the Jewish cemetery, the Castle, walk along the river and have refreshments at the cafes. There are numerous churches in various architectural styles you can pop into and of course walking the tiny cobblestones streets to discover hidden gardens, shops and cafes while soaking in the atmosphere can’t be beat. Prague is a beautiful city.
Thanks so much! Can’t wait.
NO SUMMER PLANS!
NO TIPS as I have NOT been there either!I cannot wait to hear about your ADVENTURES!
Keep your eyes peeled for me for long CAFTANS!
SWIM IN THAT SEA AND EAT LIKE A GREEK!!!!!!!
ENJOY!

I will, Contessa…especially in Greece!
Have a wonderful time! I hope you will post lots of pictures so that we may follow you along on what sounds like a WONDERFUL trip! I love that you and your friends have done this for several years…safe travels! And just to say I was thinking of you when we briefly stopped in San Francisco and visited the Walt Disney Family museum. How can anyone drive those streeets LOL!
Thanks, Cheryl! You should try WALKING up the streets here…good exercise though 🙂
Beautiful planned out. Actually perfect in my book. I would wear it all. Thumbs up. For a great trip. I’m excited for you.
Thanks so much, Kathy!!!
Just got back from Paris and Provence and it was one of my better packing adventures. I ditched the heels that I always take and wear only once or twice. Everyone is wearing sneakers; it’s completely delightful! Even cute with a little dress. It’s amazing how few things you can get by with, especially if you like to shop and pick up a thing or two or five along the way. 😊
Yes…isn’t it great!? I will wear mine with dresses. Sounds like you had some good shopping 🙂 The exchange rate is supposed to be good.
I have had my eye on those bangles and I own a very similar pair of the gentle souls (older version). I look ridiculous in floral dresses (you look adorable). I kind of look like an old farm hand. You also can really rock a cardigan (you girl next door!!). There are so many great pics here, and that suit looks fabulous!!! You do such a good job with these posts. Anyone can find something to love.
You would NOT look like an “old farm hand!” I like dresses or skirts when it’s hot and that’s what it will appear to be in Greece. Love your classy travel post!
You and your blog are fun and inspirational! I don’t look at the internet or blogs much at all but I “stumbled” onto yours and so happy that I did. I’m a follower now!
I even ordered the dress from j crew (and I’m not a dress person, usually!). Thanks for sharing your ideas, decorating and trips. You are a breath of fresh air!
Thanks, Teresa, That dress will be good for summer…can be casual, too. So sweet of you to comment!
Cute! I just bought the midi dress from J. Crew at 35% off!
